Something Super Sexy from the Seventies

A small exchange of comments underneath my previous post on the subject of the 1970's and the 1970’s love affair with various shades of brown, especially when applied to quality automotive engineering, compels me to post a picture of a super sexy late 1970’s Moonraker unit I took whilst in Italy last week…

That’s not the picture

This is…

Glamorous name, glamorous machine

A cousin of mine has just hauled it out of someone’s back yard where it’s been sitting for the last decade or so

And, yes, the engine started first time and, unlike the space shuttle, it will probably still be working in another 30 years time. Maybe the Americans should have got the German's to make their rockets for them. Oh, hang on a minute...

Space rockets, Germans...

How could I possibly have missed an opportunity to post a link to this masterpiece ...

"Coca Cola ... sometimes war"

on the subject of Nazi weapons designers and VWs, for some reason I've always been tickled by the thought that the guy who designed this also designed this

and whilst on the subject of war criminals being given safe haven by the Americans after a busy war working people to death making missiles to launch at America's allies, I can heartily recommend visiting Huntsville, Alabama on your next US vacation. Home to the Von Braun Civic Center named in tribute to Huntsville's leading unpunished Nazi resident and without doubt the densest concentration of producers and purveyors of high-tech mass death I have ever been privileged to see

...not that I am in any anti-aryanitic©.

Right now, more so than at any time the previous 60 years, it is easy to comprehend just how a nation can be cajoled, duped and scared into permitting some very unpleasant acts to be carried out in its name

The German people have paid for whatever sins some of their grandparents committed a few times over by now and they do wonderful things with glass coffee tables
