Now that's what I call firepower

I've just been reading a post over at Lord Patel's blog about the latest big orders being placed for heavy ordnance which will be used to bomb the lucky people of Iraq/ Afghanistan to a Better Way of Life

I was half tempted to leave a comment with a link to something I saw on Youtube the other day but thought better of contributing something that could be interpreted as trivialising a serious issue

No such scruples with my own blog though

The Disintegrator...

I think the film-maker has captured the fetishistic aspects of Gun Love beautifully

and if he (it has to be a he) isn't a big Predator fan I'll eat my Jesse Ventura action doll

Bill Duke - one of the few stars of Predator who didn't go on to become a US State Governor - which illustrates something significant about either the US political system or the casting criteria of 1980s sci-fi action movies

and The Disintegrator is sort of funny because it's non-lethal

Just like tasers

Mainstream Conspiraloons™ #137 - Robert Peston

A little nugget published in the Telegraph a few days ago (found via cmain's blog) written by the BBC's business editor Robert Peston...

Don't let the fact that Peston looks, sounds, acts and smells like a spook fool you. This man is capable of producing 24 carat, 100% pure LoonTalk™. As the intro to the piece promises...

"In an extract from his provocative book Who Runs Britain?, Robert Peston looks at the roots of the current financial crisis and blames a political pact with the super-rich for impoverishing the rest of us"

Robert Peston

and Robert doesn't disappoint...

"The triumph of the super-rich has been the most striking social phenomenon of the New Labour years. The presence on British soil of a disproportionate number of immensely wealthy people, who are becoming wealthier by the minute, has been encouraged by Tony Blair and Gordon Brown. On their watch, thanks to benign tax rules, Britain has become a billionaire's paradise. In a whole range of businesses and industries, the talent of individuals is rewarded in tens of million of pounds, while the relatively poor are getting poorer."

...

"To appreciate the growing gap between the very rich and the rest, you have only to look at the ratio of bosses' pay to that of employees in general. An annual review by Income Data Services showed that the median total earnings of the chief executives of the FTSE 100 companies - the UK's 100 largest quoted companies - in the financial year 2005/06 was £2m, up 20pc on the previous year.

By contrast, the gross median pay for full-time British employees in April 2006 was £23,600, up a mere 3pc on the previous year. So the typical FTSE 100 boss earned 75.2 times what the typical employee was paid - and just one year's pay rise for that typical boss was £400,000, equivalent to 17 times the total pay of the typical employee."

Read on and enjoy, and maybe take a few seconds to ponder what circumstances could possibly lead to the State Broadcasting Company's most senior business journalist putting stuff like this out via the Torygraph of all papers

What are They teaching our children?!!

I've just returned from a pleasant few hours strolling around Birmingham's excellent botanical gardens

And, I have to say, I approve heartily of their latest feature attraction...

Mount Growmore, Birmingham

However, I did find the contents of the gift shop most disturbing - particularly given the large number of Muslims living in the West Midlands who are just teetering of the brink (sic.) of extreme radicalisation and the proven (sic.) links between domestic terrorism and the drugs trade...

and the piece de resistance...

Someone's having a laugh, surely?

The Chuckle Brothers and the Temple of Doom

This one's for the understandably anonymous Chuckle Brothers fan(s) who commented on a previous post which featured a Youtube clip of a dubbed Adolf Hitler planning the McCann's media campaign, comparing his media team's performance to the legendary comedy act...

Here's a flier I picked up on my travels this weekend...

Return of the Lone Trader

Things ain't what they used to be for Lone Gunmen

The political murder business is now a lot more competitive than back in the '60s

Suicide bombers deliver more dramatic, television-friendly results and, more importantly, there's no need to find another Lone Gunman to shoot the first Lone Gunman

...and then another Lone Gunman to shoot the second Lone Gunman

etc etc

Fortunately, there are still plenty of opportunities for the young lone nut about town in the dynamic and exciting world of derivatives trading...

edit:

Hmmm, hang on a minute! No! It couldn't be... ?!

You know when you've been Tangoed

So, Peter Hain has finally come a cropper for being (allegedly) a corrupt fucker

Whoopee feckin do

Peter Hain

Nasty Orangey Thing

For a while towards the end of last year there was just the slightest possibility that people's attention would focus not on corrupt, and essentially expendable, politicians but the people and interests who do the corrupting

Well, it was only a
slight possibility

So, instead, let's just sit back and watch the journo-political whores employed to fob us all off with bullcrap get stuck into some good old-fashioned 'Left' vs 'Right', false choice party politics whilst the serious business of running the country for the benefit of the deserving few carries on as usual

-

And I wouldn't trust the supposedly anti-establishment bloggers who spearheaded the controlled demolition of Peter Hain for a second - they're very careful about what they say, and what they allow commentators to say, and are clearly aware that they can only go so far...

Charlie Wilson's War - 97 minutes of cinematic poon

Charlie's War ... "Our only mistake was that we didn't interfere in Afghanistan enough!!"

Thanks to anon for 'nominating' me to take up Craig Murray's offer of free belly dancing tickets for bloggers (life is indeed stranger than fiction). Unfortunately, I'm all tied up with less intriguing commitments and will have to pass on trying to cadge some seats from Craig (thanks to anon for thinking of me though)

Which is a genuine shame as, having just seen the appalling Charlie Wilson's War, it is clear than an appreciation of belly dancing can stand one in good stead in the world of covert operations

Charlie Wilson's War, the answer to the question...

"Is it possible to make a major motion picture about CIA involvement in Afghanistan in the 1980s without mentioning the opium trade?"

You betcha

.

A bad Day for Team McCann

Potentially funny if you have...

a) been following the McCann story

and

b) don't speak German

"OK .... everyone out except for Branson,"

and if you have been following the McCann story on-line you cannot help but have noticed what was going on over at the Daily Mirror forums. The Mirror site included a series of threads on the McCanns which morphed into a seething of hotbed of paranoia and theorising which frequently threw up some genuine nuggets of subversive information about how the mainstream media are managed and the many curious connections between politicians and professonal media-manipulators

The fact that a mainstream newspaper allowed these threads to continue was itself a cause for a whole clutch of theories - many of which focused on the possibility that some harvesting of the personal details of the participants was taking place

Conspiraloons and shills slugged it out on those threads for month after month, until a few days ago when the Mirror finally memory-holed the McCann threads.

As this happened shortly after
Clarence Mitchell identified Frank Zappa as a possible abduction suspect and contributors to the threads had started making personal connections between the person who claims to have seen Zappa and the McCanns it is possible that there is some causal relationship

Anyway, attempts to resurrect the insane magic that was the
Mirror McCann forum are underway here and here - the second seems to be the more successful so far (thx to C. for the links)

It's Official - Global Economy is run by Fucknuts

The lovely new, and intrinsically worthless, £20 note - nothing peculiar to see here, please move on...

Things have reached a very sad state of affairs indeed when the most accurate and perceptive commentary on the financial turmoil of the last few days you can find comes from a satirical online newspaper which talks about stimulating the world economy by giving everyone a puppy...

GLOBAL ECONOMY NOW RUN BY FUCKNUTS

...Wayne Hayes, an analyst at Conceptomatix, welcomed the move to a spaniel-based economy, adding that the breed was one of the biggest single generators of additional spending, more costly even than a fat child...

Meanwhile, Fed chairman Ben Bernanke urged people 'to just buy shit and worry about it later'...

He said: "The world has been brought to the brink of depression by a ridiculous consumer spending spree fuelled by cheap credit and home makeover shows. So let's keep it going."

Bernanke said the only way to prevent the current unsustainable consumer bubble from bursting was by slashing interest rates and creating another even bigger one for someone else to worry about after he had moved to Goldman Sachs...

alternatively you could turn to the (allegedly) less satirical mainstream press and plow through acres of print filled with crap like this...

"It's not absolutely certain that we've bottomed. For the next two days I don't think we'll see as much severe selling as we've seen, so perhaps we will stabilise. I'm leaning more towards there being a rally over the next week, and if not a rally then at least some choppy trading, not more severe selling. After that it's very murky and depends on what the Fed decides."

... and become slightly older, but no wiser

Now that we have the Internet it would be a relatively straightforward exercise to do a series of Google searches for terms like 'soft landing' and bullish projections made for housing and stock markets in the mainstream media over the last few years and sentence all those fools and liars who have helped bullshit our world to the brink of economic collapse to ten years in some Chinese sweatshop assembling ipods

one can but dream...

We have clearance, Clarence. Roger, Roger,

Someone has just, very politely, pulled me up for - or rather questioned why I have recently slapped up three posts about this bloke...

Hmmm, where do you start?

Putting it as briefly as possible for anyone bumping into this blog from outside of the UK who doesn't know what is going on...

1. Back in May 2007 a young girl called Madeline McCann was reported as being abducted whilst on holiday in Portugal with her parents

2. The subsequent behaviour of her parents, the compliant and uncritical mainstream media, politicians and other high profile public figures was, on a suspiciousness scale of 1 to 10, a solid 11.

At least some of the people supporting the McCanns in heated on-line discussions about the case behaved suspiciously like paid shills and the balance of public opinion as reported in the media - on and off line - did not seem to match with what many people were saying to each other face to face. In short, there was a distinct
possibility that someone was astro-turfing for the McCanns

3. Many people, myself included, were particularly intrigued by the fact that the guy running the government 'Media Monitoring Unit', Clarence Mitchell, was seconded to assist the McCanns at an early stage. Given that Clarence's area of expertise is media management and not the intricacies of an abduction investigation or Portugese jurisprudence, this seemed peculiar indeed. He subsequently quit his post (sic.) and is now working for the McCanns full-time (?!)

"It was extraordinary how, last week, his intervention seemed to eliminate within hours any misgiving about the McCanns in the British media."

4. A few days ago, Clarence held a press conference where he produced a sketch and a description of someone he claims may have been involved with Madeleine's abduction. Given that this press conference did not include the police officers carrying out the investigation and that the sketch itself is so cliched and so generically 'evil', quite a few of us in cyberworld coughed out 'bullshit!' ... unlike the mainstream press which continues to play ball

I don't pretend for a second to understand what really is going on. Trying to figure that out and whether the McCanns were involved in the disappearance or not has become something of a national passtime here in the UK.

What I am certain of is that a whole legion of shady fuckers has been involved in the 'management' of this story over the months and that objectives other than finding a lost little girl have been actively pursued; with some interesting demonstrations of mass psychological manipulation along the way

or, as another blogger wrote recently...

"I have occasionally been asked if I think the whole Madeleine McCann thing has been an elborately staged hoax. Let's put it this way - if Pope Benedict XVI was to produce Madeleine from a frozen Plexiglas case suspended 30 feet above Times Square on Christmas morning with a pair of shackles in one hand and a handful of sand in the other, I wouldn't be at all surprised."

For my American chums - imagine the JonBenet Ramsay media circus, but with the added possibility that the US government was involved in interfering with the outcome of the investigation somehow

-

and in answer to a couple of comments about my recent output spike - most of the pictures of McCann suspect look-alikes I have posted here, subsequent to that farcical press conference, either arrived via my inbox or were shamelessly ripped off from another place, so I haven't spent much time on this at all

and here's another....

and, on top of that, it's amazing how much time you can free up if you don't watch fucking television

For some people Life is almost too mysterious, too precious and too short to bear - for everyone else there's this shite...

The Great Firewall of Britannia

Sometime towards the back end of last week I started to become aware that stories were popping up in the mainstream media which seemed to be paving the way for a couple of agendas which many of us have long-suspected our Establishment has on its ‘War on Terror’ todo list…

  • Implementation of censorship of Internet sites that the Establishment deems to be unsuitable

(as well as a whole load of
CyberTerror!! stories there has also been a spike in Internet Kiddie Fiddler stories at the same time which I haven’t bothered to post about)

My suspicion that we were witnessing a co-ordinated campaign has become a certainty in the wake of the bullcrap that
Newsnight put out this week in advance of the Home Secretary’s speech yesterday announcing a crackdown on CyberTerror!!

"The internet is a key tool for the propagandists for violent extremism... Let me be clear. The internet is not a no-go area for Government. We are already working closely with the communications industry to take action against paedophiles... we should also take action against those who groom vulnerable people for the purposes of violent extremism... I will be talking to industry... about how best to do this. Where there is illegal material on the net, I want it removed."

Unsurprisingly this hasn’t gone down well in Cyberspace and I recommend these articles AND the readers’ comments…

and whilst I personally disagree that ‘blowback’ is the major reason for the alleged upsurge in domestic terrorism, this comment hits the nail on the head when it comes to the effectiveness of using new laws to combat crime…

"Quite why they think the internet is to blame when it is THEIR OWN ACTIONS that has caused offence to muslims.

The making of bombs has been the main point of interest in anyone studying chemistry at GCSE level. Oh, and the making of smells too.

As an example, guns are used to commit crimes, so, lets ban all guns and then we wont have gun crime. It is sad for those who like shooting as a sport, but it is a small price for them to pay so we can walk the streets safely. Did gun crime cease to exist? No. Why not? Because the criminals got their guns illegally and they just don't give a toss for the law. Lock them up! Well, if only we could catch one, we might.

A point here, most criminals are happily shooting each other in turf wars. It is rare for a member of the public to be shot.
A bit more freedom taken away, with an ever so good excuse, to stop terrorism. It would be easier to stop terrorism if you stopped bombing their countries.

We had the IRA doing serious damage for 35 years, well several hundred really. Now, we have to go around like some frightened rabbit because of some Saudi looney living in a cave in Afghanifuckinstan.

Give it a rest.

I am more scared of Harriet Harman."

Scary

The sad part is that things that are as clear as day to Conspiraloons – the existence of a deliberate plan to increase the powers of the State (and hence the elites who really control that State) over the individual and the coordinated use of the mainstream media to soften people up for those changes – are not yet clear to the majority

Even those members of the majority who have the common sense to realise that what is going on is disgraceful prefer to believe that the people making these changes are bumbling, reactive fools who are doing what they are doing essentially by accident

That’s not to say that the puppets who are nominally in charge aren’t bumbling, reactive, and corrupt, fools but the people pulling their strings certainly aren’t.

Psychotic, yes, bumbling, no.

The British Bullshit Corporation moves into overdrive

The BBC, especially
Newsnight, is keeping up the pressure in what increasingly seems to be a co-ordinated campaign to widen the public perception of who could be subject to current and future anti-terror legislation.

Last night Newsnight aired another 'unnamed sources' spoon fed piece, this time on bedroom-based Jihadist '

We're all potential terrorists now - pt 428

"Well John, it looks like were up to our ass in Limey terrorists all over again"

Anyone lucky enough to have caught Newsnight last night will have enjoyed its opening article about a Jihadist website which has reportedly declared the inauguration of
Al Qaeda UK

Proof once again that the rigorously objective journalists at the BBC understand that the only material on the Internet worth relying on is the Jihadist stuff you find hosted on Langley/ Cheltenham/ Australian based/ controlled servers

Al Qaeda's Internet prowess is truly marvelous to behold - capable of setting up Western-based web sites and communicating directly with young asians working in chip shops in West Yorkshire but yet at the same time evading the best efforts of a multi-billion dollar transglobal counter-intelligence effort. Quite remarkable

Newsnight viewers were also treated to the sight and sound of that geriatric pin-up of the anti-terror/ risk management industry Dame Pauline Neville Jones doing her usual insane, ever so slightly senile, turn

"Woof! Woof! I'm a teapot..."

and as someone over at J7T pointed out there also was a nice little Derren Brown moment during the Newsnight piece . . . background images of arabic text filled internet pages flitted over the screen, finally halting over the word "Blogger" . . . . blogger . . . terrorist . . . tax paying, law abiding citizen . . . ah . . . what's the difference?!? . . .

And some of us couldn't help joining the dots between a spate of apparently unconnected stories which have been spoon fed to the MSM over the last week or so. Stories such as...

I'm starting to think that 2008 might be the year in which they're going to find out

We're all potential terrorists now - redux

A new twist on an old favourite...

Just in case anyone missed this amusing little piece in last weekend's Scotland on Sunday...

Al-Qaeda's white army of terror

Two and a half years on from the 7/7 attack on London, MI5 has identified a worrying new trend in Al-Qaeda recruits

HUNDREDS of British non-Muslims have been recruited by al-Qaeda to wage war against the West, senior security sources warned last night.

As many as 1,500 white Britons are believed to have converted to Islam for the purpose of funding, planning and carrying out surprise terror attacks inside the UK, according to one MI5 source.

Lord Carlile, the Government's independent reviewer of anti-terrorism legislation, said many of the converts had been targeted by radical Muslims while serving prison terms.

Security experts say the growing secret army of white terrorists poses a particularly serious threat as they are far less likely to be detected than members of the Asian community.

Since the 7/7 and 21/7 London bombings, police and intelligence services have had considerable success in identifying, disrupting and stopping extremist plots. As a result, groups such as al-Qaeda, Lashkar-e-Taiba and Harkat-ul-Mujahideen have been forced to change tack. Converting white non-Muslims has been one response.

The trend is well established in the United States. American-born Adam Gadahn is one of the FBI's top 10 most-wanted terrorists after converting to Islam and rising through al-Qaeda's ranks to become a prominent spokesman.

One British security source last night told Scotland on Sunday: "There could be anything up to 1,500 converts to the fundamentalist cause across Britain. They pose a real potential danger to our domestic security because, obviously, these people blend in and do not raise any flags.

"The exact figure of those who have converted to Islam and turned to terror is not precisely known. Not everyone who converts becomes radicalised and it may be that just two-fifths go down that path, but it remains a significant and dangerous problem."

Carlile said he was not aware of specific numbers, but confirmed to Scotland on Sunday that Whitehall was aware of the new threat and was actively tackling it. He said: "These people are an issue and are potentially very dangerous. There have been cases of non-Muslims converting before, and of these, Richard Reid, the so-called Shoebomber, is the most obvious example.

"They are more difficult to detect and the security services are right to place some focus on this issue."...

Well,
We didn't see that one coming

Telling the BBC to go f**k itself proving to be contagious...

Back in 2006 a film about the 7/7 bombings called Ludicrous Diversion was published on the Internet.

I had a few personal quibbles with the film but nothing major. I consider it to be the best film to date explaining why people should mistrust the Official Narrative of that day...

And it comes as excellent news to discover that the producers of
Ludicrous Diversion have, like the July 7th Truth group, told the BBC why they won't be participating in its Conspiracy Files documentary/ hit piece on (Unofficial) July 7th Conspiracy Theories. Their response, along with an email from the BBC, are available on the J7T blog but I'm reproducing it here because it pleases me so...

Dear Susan

Thanks for your invitation to come and discuss the 'conspiracy' issues surrounding 7/7. Unfortunately we must decline. The BBC's credibility amongst so-called 'conspiracy folk' is so non-existent that it's laughable. If you don't know why this is, check out youtube regarding the BBC and 911.

So you intend to find the definitive account of 7/7 – why wait until now? The BBC not only never questioned a single fact within the 'Official Story', but was itself responsible for disseminating the information without giving most of it even the most cursory investigative glance.

We draw your attention, for example, to the issue of what train the supposed bombers took into London. For well over a year the BBC continued to publish on its website the time given by the police and offered in the official investigation – despite the fact that particular train was cancelled - and this fact was widely available across the internet. The BBC only changed its story when the official story was itself changed and the train time altered. Worth thinking about. . .

In fact, in matters such as 7/7, i.e. matters of crucial importance to the British public, the evidence strongly indicates that the BBC is nothing more than a mouthpiece for the British government and intelligence agencies, relying on its historical reputation to create in the public mind exactly the picture that these bodies would like the public to see.

You, no doubt, will claim that you are coming at it afresh, with independent eyes. In that case, (after suggesting you wake up and smell the coffee) we think you should really dedicate the entire program not to the validity of the 7/7 `conspiracy theories`, but to an proper examination of the central conspiracy - how a web of lies was presented by the government, police and intelligence agencies and then disseminated without question by the mainstream media, your good selves at the BBC included.

The idea of the BBC presenting any sort of unbiased presentation would be comedic if it was not so tragically absurd. Their 'conspiracy series analysis of 911 was criminally negligent in its presentation of the facts and lapdog acceptance of the official story and will be correctly adjudged so in time. Your latest hitpiece on 7/7 'conspiracies' will sadly, but inevitably, be cut from the same branch.

You will 'consider' a few of the enormous number of lines of investigation, a blend of the most easily dismissed and the most obviously insane. You will do exactly no independent investigation of any kind. And your conclusion will be that most of the questions being posed by 'conspiracy theorists' regarding 7/7 are without any real basis, but some questions do need asking about the role of the intelligence agencies in following the four men before the event. How do we know this will be your conclusion? Because that is the official line. Feel free to prove us wrong.

If you think this is unfair, here is a list of the essential questions to consider – and to use your BBC-backed weight to obtain answers. We'll take a little wager that not one of these issues is seriously and sensibly addressed in the course of your film.

Why did the mainstream media including the BBC, choose not to question a single police report, political statement or any part of the official report? Is this now outside your remit? Is the BBC somehow under the impression that the police, the government and the intelligence agencies with their anonymous leaks are infallible and more importantly trustworthy? Given a verifiable history of deceit by all three, why would the BBC simply report as fact what these organisations claim?

Why won't the police release the enormous number of images and moving footage of the four bombers in London that they have claim to have and which must exist? Surely, with this much time passed, and in a serious documentary by the BBC there can be no harm in showing the moving CCTV footage of these four bombers - the footage which has condemned them, despite having never been seen by the british public?

How is that the police, intelligence agencies and media all falsely reported the time of the train the bombers took into London for over a year, given that the police has by its own statements, actual CCTV footage of the four bombers getting on this non-existent train?

Here`s a suggestion for a very interesting and enlightening sequence for your film.

Take a camera to Luton station, film the entire journey from there to the underground platforms that the bombers departed from (we were denied permission to do this, but we have a feeling the Beeb will be allowed) – time the journey and count the number of CCTV cameras that filmed the four alleged bombers along the way. Then calculate how many hours of footage of these men must exist if the official story of the mens journey to Kings Cross and onwards is true. Then reveal, perhaps with a crescendo of music – that not one single second of this footage has been presented. In fact, other than a still photo of Hussain outside boots, there is not one single frame of the four men in London. Does it exist? It must, if the official story is true. What possible reason could there be for not showing it?

What a scoop for the BBC it would be if they actually got this footage that has been denied from the British public! What a triumph to force the police into releasing the hours of moving images of the four suspects! And if they don't give you this footage straight away, what a wonderful opportunity to try and uncover why they won't! Exciting journalistic opportunities await, if you want to take the leap. Sadly, this won't happen, but again please – feel free to prove us wrong.

Yours sincerely

LD

This is an unparalleled response from the two sanest and most reliable sources of information about the flaws in the Official Narrative of 7/7. For too long, producers of mainstream media bullshit have taken it for granted that people who question the word of the proven liars in our governments will drop their pants at the slightest opportunity to get access to mainstream media - however biased, insulting and outright dishonest that coverage might be

At last, it seems that some people finally understand the nature of the struggle in which they are engaged

Absolutely brilliant, kudos all round

PS and whilst on the subject of how the whores at the BBC treat 'conspiracy folk', this comment over at the J7 Forum, made in response to J7T's statement of its rejection of the BBC Conspiracy Files, is worth a peek...

"My brother, Richard Chang who was a senior risk analyst at Abbey National, headquarters, London died after a fall on 13th July 2004 shortly after an interrogation by Kroll associates. The circumstances of his death are highly suspicious. Guy Smith producer of the propaganda film 9/11 BBC Conspiracy files whom I met personally offered to produce a documentary BEFORE the Coroner's Inquest only if the family publically stated that Richard committed suicide and on condition we did not talk to any other journalist. We declined on the grounds that we did not believe this to be true. After the Coroner's Inquest ruled a verdict of suicide I spoke to Guy again about making a documentary to which he responded that he was not interested because it was too late."

Domestic Weapons Systems of the Week

A lot (well, more than one, less than three) of people are asking me what do I think people should do to prepare themselves for the impending implosion of the global economic system and the end of civilisation as we know it.

Naturally enough, America leads the way and people worried about coping with a post-apocalyptic future could do a lot worse than picking up a couple of these babies...

International War on Terror News Roundup - New Zealand edition

The News Zealand press - even faster with the news that matters than the BBC

A recent story from the New Zealand Herald...

Corrections boss defends 'Zaoui and Bain' lookalikes
12:00PM Saturday January 05, 2008

The Corrections Department has defended the actions of two staff members who attended a work Christmas function dressed as former prison inmates Ahmed Zouai and David Bain.

The staff members turned up as asylum seeker (and alleged terrorist) Zouai and accused murderer Bain for a themed party where head office staff dressed up as their favourite notable New Zealanders.

National Party Corrections spokesman Simon Power said the workers' choice of dress was irresponsible given their role in a government justice organisation.

However, Corrections acting chief executive Phil McCarthy told the Dominion Post newspaper the pair were juniors and not directly involved in managing offenders, even though most staff went as sportspeople.

"In the context of a staff Christmas party, I don't think it matters a jot."

It would be different if the two workers were employed as probation officers or warders, or had had contact with the former inmates, he said.

However "they're as likely to have been a clerk or information officer".

The pair were simply masquerading in costume -- "in David Bain's case it involved no more than a rather large cardigan", Mr McCarthy said.

He said he did not know how Ahmed Zaoui had dressed but said "a certain physical resemblance" was thought to have been the biggest motivation for the costumes.

NB Connoisseurs of ballsed-up and gratuitous anti-terror raids and nonsense items labeled by police as terrorist equipment may enjoy this story which was reported in the aftermath of the truly epic series of ballsed-up and gratuitous anti-terror raids in New Zealand last year (all completely justified by the appalling toll taken by terrorists in New Zealand in recent years)...

Pensioner feels violated by police raid

5:00AM Thursday October 18, 2007

A Tauranga pensioner feels "violated" after armed police stormed his home, "trashed" the place, and left with three jackets and an air rifle.

Clive Martin, 67, said he learned from neighbours that the armed offenders squad had raided his property on Tuesday afternoon while he was out.

His home is one of dozens police are searching as part of a massive operation after the discovery of alleged weapons training camps in the Bay of Plenty.

Police have so far made 17 arrests.

Mr Martin's Redmond St home was left with a smashed window, a broken window latch and a mess in his shed after the raid. He said he was upset when he found a 20-page search warrant sitting on his table stating there "is reasonable ground for believing" there were items inside which were an offence relating to either "participating in a terrorist group", or the unlawful possession of firearms or restricted weapons.

The warrant stated the home could contain clothing from "camps" in January and June this year, which Mr Martin said he had no involvement in.

Other items suspected of being at the property are detailed on the warrant's four-page list of military-style equipment, some of which has appeared on the internet auction website Trade Me.

Mr Martin said he had no idea why his home was searched and was "gutted" police had linked him to people potentially involved in terrorist crimes.

"It is a big mystery and I feel violated. As far as I'm concerned, I've been violated," he said. "They've trashed my house. I just vacuumed it out - there's dirty mud all over the floor. They've trashed my shed, they've trashed my linen cupboard."

Police took an old oilskin jacket, a raincoat, a polarfleece jacket and magnets that he used to hold loose change. They also took an air rifle...

It's the Bankers stupid pt428

I've just discovered via the most reliable source of news in the Cosmos, The Daily Mash, that Tony Blair is now working for The Bankers in a more official capacity than in the past

Maybe he got the idea from that other staunch socialist and man of the people his former chief of staff Jonathan Powell

And still, people who consider themselves to be left wing will keep supporting that shower of sleazy, corrupt fucks called the Labour Party, in the belief that it somehow represents the interests of ordinary people

...and it's 'the conspiracy theorists' who are supposed to be lunatic fantasists!?

A pop quiz for all you Christian Capitalists out there - what's the one thing, the one practice that drove ace-pacifist Jesus Christ so mental that he kicked off and started a ruck?

Earlier on today I left a comment on someone else's blog which, given Blair's much publicised conversion to Catholicism and reportedly profound Christian faith, seems vaguely relevant...

As I hope you realise, I have no problem with Christianity, provided people claiming to be Christians at least try to follow the teachings of the person they believe to be the Son of God

But I can’t help noticing that an awful lot of people who claim to be Christians feel a lot more comfortable quoting from the Old Testament or the apocrypha than JC’s direct teachings as recorded in gospels

I remember a chat I had with a Christian a few years ago. He was very fervent about his faith and, as it happened, very rich. I asked him how he reconciled his wealth with his faith and I quoted Jesus saying that it was easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of God

his answer?

‘Jesus said it was harder, not impossible’

Belief in a Supreme Deity is one thing, believing that She/He/It is a dumb bastard who'll fall for the same lawyers' tricks that so many mortals do is something else altogether

You really do have to be something quite, er, special to think you'll pull that one off

God ... unlikely to be impressed by the terms of reference or wording of the Hutton or Butler Reports

It's the Bankers stupid pt427

I bang on a lot about money supply and its impact on everybody's lives. On the face of it it is a very dry, technical subject but I believe that it is important because it is one of the principal instruments used to control us all and, when it suits, fuck large numbers of ordinary people up

So, I'm always on the look-out for decent explanations of how the money supply system works. I've just come across this comment on Guido Fawkes' blog which I think is worth (though not perfect) flagging up in its own post...

Real Schadenfreude said...

"The number 1 cause of general cost rises in the economy is not the BoE it's the Government anti-productivity policies."

No. Rising prices can only be caused by more money in the system. If it was a closed system where the amount of money was fixed, then prices could not rise - price of product A could only rise at the expense of product B, but in general prices could not rise. Over the past ten years we have seen prices of houses soar at perhaps three times their starting value. But we have not seen any decrease in the price of food, or fuel or other products. In fact the prices of such things have also risen - by about 4% per annum over the last ten years.

It follows that this can only happen as a result of money NOT being in a closed system, i.e. there is more money in the system now than 10 years ago. A lot more. This is possible primarily because banks are permitted to loan more "money" than they have in deposits. In fact they don't loan "money" in reality - because your bank statement is just a bank IOU - it only gets converted to real money when you go to an ATM and withdraw some cash (notice that you have to provide all sorts of ID to withdraw your own cash but only a credit card number if you want to pay for something over the phone using debt. Debt is something the bank likes to encourage. Withdrawing cash is something it doesn't want to encourage. It is you they want to discourage from withdrawing your own cash - not the crooks).

The bank IOUs are tradeable between banks so we can pretend they are real money. That is what M4 money supply measures - the amount of ALL tradeable money as cash and bank debts taken together. It is a better measure of inflation than the RPI since it measures all impact on prices including housing. The M4 money supply has trebled in the last ten years. A lot has been absorbed in property prices as the banks have compensated for the low profit they can make when interest rates are low by pushing more loans and causing house price inflation - thus the capital value of the mortgage increases. Note that whilst the bank may have given you a tradeable IOU to pay for your house - you need to repay the bank with real money. Oh, and you also need to pay the interest with real money too, of course.

In theory the banks are limited in what they can lend as digital IOUs - they have to remain within a certain ratio with respect to the deposits on their books. However, with interest rates being low the banks have been keen to find new ways around these rules and have turned to credit derivatives. What they do is package all their debt up in bundles and call it a credit derivative which they sell on to other parties. Thus they no longer have the debt on their books and can carry on lending digital IOUs willy nilly. Or they could until the market for credit derivatives suddenly dried up as people realised the risks involved in buying them.

So now the banks can't flog the credit derivatives. In fact they have had to take back some of the derivatives they had hoped to sell. Thus they are in breach of the reserve rules or close to being in breach so now they are refusing to loan out any more money. This can be seen in the M4 money supply figures which are collapsing at present as the banks refuse to offer further loans. The central banks are trying to cure this problem by lowering base rates but it is very unlikely to help - the problem is not that debt is too expensive to take on, the problem is that we are now maxed out on the debt that banks are allowed to sell. This is the source of the real credit-crunch and it is only tangentially related to the "US sub-prime" fiasco - that was merely the trigger of an inevitable maxing out of the credit boom.

Unfortunately very many companies need big bank loans just to operate - perhaps to start big new construction projects or to provide short-term finance to cover losses. With the banks failing to provide loans to these companies cash-flow problems and insolvencies will be the result. Many people will get made redundant, and many of those will get little redundancy pay.

The government has little time to sort this problem out before we hit a real and very severe recession. At the moment the government is doing the wrong things to sort it out. They are the cause of the problem and thus they are wedded to the concept of continued credit growth to drive the economy. They are wedded to an idea that has broken the economy and their shared ego will not allow them to admit this and take the necessary steps to cure it. A change of government will be required, but by then it will be far too late.

Of course, the really interesting question arising from this is are you one of those crazy Conspiraloons who believes that this insanity is at least partly deliberate, with intentional consequences, or are you one of those crazy Coincidence Theorists who believes that shit like this 'just happens'?

edit: and thanks to G. for sending me a link to an article from last year on the incredible rags to riches (?!) story of Nat Rothschild.

It's difficult to pick out any one highlight from this mass of chunder-inducing sycophancy but this euphemism-laden quote is ominously special...

"What he needs is one of those historic opportunities like the ones seized by his ancestors. If he gets that golden moment, he could be the richest one of his generation."

Yes, very funny

Anyone with even a passing knowledge of the history of the Rothschilds and their banking dynasty chums will not be betting against such an historic opportunity presenting itself in the not too distant future, though they might question the use of the word 'seized' instead of something more appropriate like 'engineered' or 'created'.

Grab a bargain on eBay

A few days a go I wrote a post about how the image quality of new compact digital cameras was in many ways worse than older models. I mentioned that, as a consequence, one particular camera, the Fuji F31fd, was currently fetching more second hand than it was selling for new (£100-110) when it was discontinued

Well, I think someone has just set some kind of record on ebay for a second hand F31fd...

I'm guessing we're looking at someone with much more money than sense. Maybe someone like this Legend of Rock who didn't realise that you have to take the lens cap off your £3,000+ Leica before it can take any pictures....

Leica M series camera and lens ... £3,000
Knowing that removing the lens cap is an essential prerequisite for optimum image quality ... priceless

Unlike the Leica, the Fuji's built-in lens cap opens automatically when you turn the camera on - that's got to be worth at least a few hundred quid

I wouldn't buy one of those Canon's though, they do strange things...

The wit and wisdom of Jeremy Clarkson

Just in case anyone missed this story...

(BBC) TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson has lost money after publishing his bank details in his newspaper column.

The Top Gear host revealed his account numbers after rubbishing the furore over the loss of 25 million people's personal details on two computer discs.

He wanted to prove the story was a fuss about nothing.

But Clarkson admitted he was "wrong" after he discovered a reader had used the details to create a £500 direct debit to the charity Diabetes UK...

John Reith ...NOT spinning in his grave

John Charles Walsham Reith, 1st Baron Reith KT, GCVO, GBE, CB, TD, PC - Padrino of the State Broadcasting Company

A quote from the Canadian Spectator blog on the subject of J7T telling the BBC to get f**ked
stuffed (Canadians are a little less sweary than Londoners)...

Listen you simple-minded non-conspiracy theorists. Which of the following propositions is most plausible: (a) The government goes to all the trouble of running a broadcasting operation to keep you informed about current affairs and in particular to expose government corruption, incompetence, murder and theft; or (b) The government goes to all the trouble of running a broadcasting operation to keep you mis-informed about current affairs and in particular to conceal government corruption, incompetence, murder and theft?

See: once you ask the right question, the truth is obvious.

The BBC can go f**k itself

A few weeks ago I made a couple of posts critical of a dodgy ‘Truth’ video about ‘what really happened’ (sic.) on 7/7 which was being pushed heavily on the Internet

I mentioned at the time that other things were going on which made that already dubious film even more suspect

In the space of a few days at the end of last year…

  • Families of 7/7 victims were sent unsolicited copies of coroner’s reports detailing the injuries suffered by their loved ones
  • That deeply flawed 7/7 video, produced by a self-proclaimed Messiah, appeared on the Internet. Unsolicited copies of the video were sent to the families of 7/7 victims
  • The BBC started sniffing around July 7th Truth Forum and attempted to lure/ entice/ cajole key members into participating in a serious investigation (sic.) into the anomalies and questions arising from the Official Narrative of 7/7. Only it is not a serious investigation, it is an episode of the BBC’s Conspiracy Files
  • plus some other stuff I can't go into :(

The four episodes of Conspiracy Files aired to date have been tediously formulaic, mendacious hit pieces, laden with the kind of meaningless, increasingly tired, establishment-serving psychobabble that can be found on this page

The formula employed by Conspiracy Files and similar shows includes the following elements:

  • depiction of anyone who doubts ‘Official Narratives’ as being plain bonkers and in need of a good strong dose of psikhushka– facilitated through selective editing of what those people have to say and application of the kind of camera angles, lighting and soundtracks more usually associated with horror movies

Typical Conspiracy Theorist - identified as being mentally unwell by the State Broadcasting Company

  • accusations that ‘theorists’ are racist and insensitive to the feelings of survivors and victims’ families
  • a really, really ...really sneering and patronising tone to the narrator's voice as a subliminal prompt whenever a 'conspiracy theorist' is on screen
  • presentation of carefully hand-picked genuine 24 carat nutters, stoners and/or shills as being the ‘leading spokespeople’ for a particular ‘conspiracy theory’

"blah blah ... 7/7 ... inside job... blah crop circles ... blah blah ...ancient Sumerian prophecies ... blah blah ...MI6 ... underground alien bases ... blah blah ... I'm God"

  • a deliberate confusion between valid concerns about parapolitical activity and outright fantasy, achieved through working in references to nonsense about Alien UFOs, Elvis sightings and the like
  • blatantly ignoring or misrepresenting key questions posed by ‘theorists’
  • misrepresentation of people who simply have questions about ‘Official Narratives’ as being 'theorists'. Suspecting and having evidence that someone is lying to you is not the same thing as making up a competing fairytale of your own.

These tricks and devices are so blatant, so cliched and so calculated that it’s nigh on impossible to accept that they are played unconsciously or in good faith

The whores who make these shows know full well what they are doing

Anyway, much to the probable surprise of the BBC, which presumably is accustomed to people just wetting their pants at the opportunity to be misrepresented and slandered on national television, J7T has just told the makers of the
Conspiracy Files to go fuck themselves

Well done folks

No doubt, given half a chance, the Once and Future King of England and maker of 7/7 Ripple Effect Lord Muad’dib of Canvey Island will show no such reluctance to appear in the show but that’s probably what he’s there for

If you have any interest in the events of 7/7 I strongly recommend reading J7T’s detailed rebuttal to the BBC on the J7T website.

Integrity and honesty are such rare commodities these days

and I certainly wouldn't start looking for any in the BBC

Shameless Fucker Centrale

edit: and thanks to Alex F. for bringing up the subject of the BBC's Jane Standley reporting the collapse of WTC7 on 9/11, almost half an hour before it actually collapsed...

Jane shows impeccable comic timing by first announcing the collapse and then standing to one side to reveal an embarrassingly intact WTC7 for all the world to see...

Anyone who has watched the footage of Jane from that afternoon through will also have noticed the equally impeccable timing of her signal being suddenly lost mid-sentence only a few seconds before WTC7 really was brought down - avoiding any risk of the anchorman back in London feeling obliged to say 'Excuse me Jane, but I think a building has just fallen down behind you'

I think I can predict with some confidence that this footage will never make it onto any episodes of Auntie Beeb's Most Hilarious!! TV Blunders or even the Conspiracy Files (edit: or maybe it will?)

When there is no Quiet there can be no Loud

A few months ago a couple of chums asked me to recommend a digital camera for general snapping. I reached into my capacious pockets and whipped out one of these babies…

They had just been discontinued and could be had new in the region of £100-110

Actually, I recommended that particular model to quite a few people over the last year and the first reaction from most was why was a camera geek like me recommending such a cheap camera (because I'm a frugal camera geek)

Anyway, one of my chums subsequently picked one up – the other left it for a bit and by the time he started looking for one there were no new ones left and the price of second hand models has crept up to £150 – 200

That’s if you can find one

I’ve just had a peek on ebay and this is all that’s doing

Yup, that particular camera is currently fetching more on the second hand market than a new copy of the model that replaced it (£155)

Strangely enough, the reason why this particular camera was discontinued is exactly the same reason why so many people belatedly want one

You see it’s only a six megapixel model

And even though your average credit card-spanking consumerist Muppet assumes that a bigger number must be better than a smaller number, there are only so many pixels you can pack onto the chips fitted to digital compacts before image quality starts taking a turn for the worst

And because the F31fd only has 6,000,000 pixels crammed onto a chip the size of a small fingernail, the images it produces are less fuzzy than those from the 8, 10 and 12 megapixel models which now dominate the market place

On top of the noise/ fuzziness issue, cameras with more megapixels also have a crappier dynamic range which means that they can only record so much variation between light and dark in a scene before they start recording entire swathes of the picture as being pitch black or completely white

Here’s one I fucked up earlier...

Even though I artfully converted it into a black and white image (an old favourite trick to distract from the fact that large chunks of a picture are terminally blown-out) it should be fairly clear that the digital camera I used just couldn’t cope with the range of light and dark areas in the scene and gave up even trying.

-

And whilst on the subject of modern manufacturers giving in to their marketing departments and selling shit products to the bulk of their customers who don’t know any better, may I recommend this article and the short Youtube video that goes with it...

The news that music companies are mastering their CDs to sound constantly loud, with little variation between the quiet and loud parts of tracks, doesn’t come as much of a surprise. Producers of TV ads have taken to a similar ‘trick’ by mixing their soundtracks to stick as closely to the peak permissable volume throughout. Which is why everyone now has to jam away at their remotes every time a commercial break starts, for fear of going deaf or scaring their cat

So, spare a thought for the death of dynamic range; in what we look at and what we hear, it’s just another small way, amongst countless others, that cynical fuckers are using to make our daily lives just that little bit more crap. With a little effort you could even use the Death of Dynamic range as an allegory for the times we live in

-

And never one to pass up on an opportunity to be scatological may I take this opportunity to recommend Amateur Photo-God Ken Rockwell’s website

Ken Rockwell look-alike

Yes, that’s a picture of Ray Liotta, not Ken, but Ken does bear a passing resemblance to Ray and I can’t find any free to use images of the actual man himself

I recommend Ken’s site partly because he says some very amusingly opinionated things about photographic equipment but mostly because I’m shamelessly trying to work in a reference to this paragraph from a page on the site…

‘I do this because I love to share. I dream about what I'm going to write all night, then get up at 6AM and hit the keyboard at 6:30AM and don't stop till my wife pulls me off. I want everyone to be able to enjoy photography as much as I do. My wife thinks I'm crazy spending so many hours a day at this, and she's probably right.’

And if you don’t understand why I find that paragraph so amusing, well, bless you

And if all this talk of photography has stimulated a desire to see, given the right subjects, just what cameras are capable of in skilled, master craftsmen's hands you could do a lot worse than visiting this site for inspiration...

Happy New Fear

A New Year naturally enough brings a new crop of calamitous predictions of what’s going to happen in the next twelve months

So far this year, I’ve especially enjoyed this piece in
The New York Times (thanks for the link LP)...

In 2008, a 100 Percent Chance of Alarm

You’re in for very bad weather. In 2008, your television will bring you image after frightening image of natural havoc linked to global warming. You will be told that such bizarre weather must be a sign of dangerous climate change - and that these images are a mere preview of what’s in store unless we act quickly to cool the planet.

Unfortunately, I can’t be more specific. I don’t know if disaster will come by flood or drought, hurricane or blizzard, fire or ice. Nor do I have any idea how much the planet will warm this year or what that means for your local forecast. Long-term climate models cannot explain short-term weather.

But there’s bound to be some weird weather somewhere…

ripped from LWTC247

I also enjoyed reading this article in the
Washington Times on the growing phenomenon of SJS, Sudden Jihad Syndrome...

'Sudden jihad syndrome' poses domestic risk

Sympathy for al Qaeda has produced "sudden jihad syndrome" in domestic terror cells unaffiliated with foreign terrorists and people seeking to carry out attacks in the U.S., a law-enforcement intelligence analysis says.

The Dec. 6 report by the Texas Public Safety Department's Bureau of Information Analysis warns officials not to dismiss individual or homegrown terror cells as "wannabes," saying they pose a credible threat to homeland security.

"Oftentimes, these attackers are dismissed as suffering from mental health issues, but their own words and writings reveal an affiliation with Islamic supremacy or an affinity for Islamic extremism," said the report, which was distributed to federal, state and local law enforcement in Texas. "As a result, law enforcement should not be too quick to judge their attacks as having no nexus to terrorism."…

Sadly, I suspect that only one of the two articles quoted above is a spoof

-

As well as the now traditional scary New Year Man Made Climate Change and Terror!! predictions in the mainstream media, we’re also now being treated to a higher dose of Impending Global Financial Meltdown than we’ve been accustomed to in recent years…

Apparently, it’s just as well that the world is getting warmer as millions of us are about to be kicked out of our houses

And even if we manage to hang onto our homes we couldn’t afford to heat them anyway

Because, you see, all the oil is just about to run out

That’s why, apparently, the price of oil has just nicked $100 a barrel

apparently, the gold is running out too…

and the Euros, they’re in short supply as well apparently…

and Roubles…

In fact, the only commodity the world appears to have more of than it needs is dollars and, increasingly, pounds

But They still keep printing the fucking things

There’s no doubt that supply issues are affecting the price of certain commodities. However, as the mainstream media is doing virtually without exception, to make reference to commodity inflation without referring to the fact that the Fed, the Bank of England and the ECB are stealing from us all by devaluing the worth of our savings and wages by printing money like there’s no tomorrow is an outright and calculated lie.

If fresh, steaming horseshit were traded on an international exchange I could knock up a graph of the dollar price of that rising over the last three years as well

And, as we all know, there’s definitely no shortage of that

You get a lot less horseshit for your dollar these days...

.
