Until recently, the single greatest contribution made to public discourse by Daily Telegraph columnist and professional tory irritant about town, James Delingpole, has been to help polarise the debate about alleged Anthropogenic Global Warming along conventional Right vs Left lines; making it a whole lot easier for the average Jane or Joe on the street to adopt a position on AGW without having to know or think very much about the scientific basis for AGW at all

And when it comes to economic or foreign policy matters James can be most succinctly described as an almost perfect Melanie Phillips clone, but with a cock (though I am making unsubstantiated morphological assumptions here)

One of the staple cliches of on-line conspiranoids is to make constant allusion to the 'false left-right paradigm' and to refer to left and right wing politics as being 'two wings of the same bird'

Now, as it happens, I agree that mainstream politics are frequently manipulated into two horse races where both horses have the same owner

I also agree that the left-right paradigm is a restrictive, 'two dimensional' representation of the possible spectrum of political viewpoints. The political bird in question also has a head (libertarian) and an arse (authoritarian) - and several other appendages that could be pressed into methaphorical service, but not in this post

By bringing the additional libertarian-authoritarian axis into your simple left-right political paradigm it becomes possible to shed light on all sorts of otherwise difficult to explain behaviour...

• Why Hitler and Stalin got on so well, for a while anyway

• Why on certain issues such as personal freedoms or overseas wars, libertarian right wingers can sound a lot less bloodthirsty than left wingers with an authoritarian streak
  
  
• How it is possible for a certain type of young 'Marxist' (sic.) to effortlessly become a middle-aged Neocon, or Melanie Phillips

If you are the kind of person who enjoys petty power and telling people what to do you would probably fit just as well into a 'hard' left as a 'hard' right regime. If you do not like giving or taking orders you are going to have real issues living under a paternalistic regime, however benign

Having said all that, simplistic as the left-right paradigm may be it is not a false paradigm

There are such things as left and right wing sensibilities and one of the falsest paradigms out there on the Interweb is the assertion that left wing ideologies are entirely a fabrication of the Illuminati Jew Bankers, created to destroy the transcendental beauty that is Christian Free Market Capitalism

• You could point out that the Christ depicted in the New Testament is not what you would call a raving free market capitalist

• You could explain that the vast majority of workers in free market nirvanas such as Victorian England didn't exactly have much scope to savour the joys of all those capitalistic opportunities and freedoms, on account of being too poor and dying prematurely from a variety of exciting lung diseases

• Or you could simply suggest that anyone who dismisses compassion for and empathy with fellow humans as being nothing more than the product of Zionist mind control is probably in dire need of a hug
  

Without going into the ins and outs of who allegedly funded and promoted which political group, which writer or which revolution, plain common sense and a little knowledge of history, should tell you that the quest for fairness, compassion and empathy goes back a long way and is not some 19th century cabalistic invention conjured up out of the ether by Marx

Bill has stopped fiddling endlessly with his biro whilst explaining how we’re all being shafted by the Hidden Overlords of Finance Capital but the shonky camera work and Stillted delivery style we’ve all grown to know and love remain

Bill does a nice job of explaining why reverting to a Gold Standard would be playing into the hands of the Shadowy Overlords (They control its supply) but doesn’t half talk some bollocks when romanticising periods of history when people weren’t subjects of the bankers

I also particularly enjoyed the part where Bill makes reference to the eradication of mutual, non-profit savings institutions across the Western World in the 80s and 90s (which helped pave the way for the current upsurge in global financial larceny) as if it were something that ‘just happened’, like rain


The Money Fix

(I haven’t found out how to view this off-line, short of forking out some hard-earned Fiat to buy a copy, which is a pain)

Featuring the usual run through of the principles of Fractional Reserve Banking and the increasingly mandatory praise for the creation of local currencies.

This film does include a nice touch of drawing parallels between the exchange of goods and services between people and natural ecosystems of mutually supporting organisms. As such, the result is just a teensy wee bit Marxist in its analysis of why our current financial system is fucked

Marx, as I keep reading on the Internet, was a paid tool of the Zionist Bankers. I am also frequently being informed by the same sources that the current financial crisis and associated bail-outs (thefts) are nothing less than part of a Communist plot to finally secure world domination once and for all

I have one or two problems with this particular world view

There are many competing definitions of what constitutes ‘true’ Communism, or Free Market Capitalism, and the ones that seem to have been adopted by right wing loons go something like...

• Free Market Capitalism = A system under which I personally make money

• Communism = A system under which I personally lose money

Personally speaking, I think this is misguided, ever so self-centred, and plain wrong.

Just because the same kleptocratic system which bought the acquiescence of the Middle Classes with a little bit of illusory wealth creation and 3rd world rape is now evaporating that ‘wealth’ that does not mean that this kleptocracy was somehow magically and seamlessly transformed into a Communist system

If it’s Communism today then it was Communism back when Reagan and Thatcher were doing their thing and beyond. The fact that the previously unreamed are now being reamed does not mean that the system has changed, just its victims.

As for the Marx thing, all I can say is that the more I learn about Marx the more I find myself agreeing with his analyses. The people who make connections between Marx and the Banksters generally leave their criticisms at the fact that, yes, there were connections but they don’t actually tackle the meat of what Marx had to say

That’s not good enough

This may come as news to people who push the ‘Marx was a tool of the Banksters’ meme but every idea that looks like it is going somewhere is, with varying degrees of success, co-opted and turned into a tool of the plutocrats

Homesick...

For reasons that aren't important right now, I find myself in a position where I have to choose between continuing to be an expat or returning home to the UK

Until a few days ago I was all set to click the button, buy the ticket and return back to Blighty. A decision my family and close friends were supportive of

And then something interesting happened

Quite a few of my friends and family have started suggesting that I hold my horses and think about hanging on for a bit, certainly until my right to return to somewhere a long way from the UK becomes unconditional

Some have pointed to the relatively high cost of living and dire economic prospects of the UK as a reason for staying away. Both of which are very fair points. From the point of view of anyone who isn't an oligarch, the UK fucked

A couple of other people though have cited the newly, er, 'elected' Conservative government as a primo reason for keeping the Hell away from Dodge

Personally, I think the Tories back in power is awesome news and the best conceivable outcome for the recent General Election

and the fact that the Tories have been forced into an unholy coalition with the Lib-Dems is just icing on the cake

It matters not a jot which figurehead is in charge of the supposed government. The Lords of Finance Capital controlled what went on in the UK before the General Election, and continue to do so after the General Election

What can change as the result of the election is people's perceptions of what is being done to them

I remember 20 years ago when a quarter of a million angry people tore up London in protest against a Community Charge which, in the scheme of things, was pretty much fuck all

And since then, with the noble exception of the protest against the invasion of Iraq, not a fucking squeak

Maybe, now that the Tories are nominally in charge, all those muppets who stood by all the ghastly things Nu Labour inflicted on the UK and world over the last 13 years might get off their arses and start opposing some of those ghastly things

Instead of supporting a political party on the basis that 'At least they're not the Tories' maybe it's about time a few more people defined their beliefs in terms of what they think is right and decent

because there ain't been much in the way of righteous and decency in the way the UK has been governed for a long, long time

That is the idea that, through the banking bailouts, the British and US governments are imposing Communism on their people via the back door

Maybe if the British and US governments were nationalising profitable businesses and putting them completely under state control then, yes, that could be a form of Communism

But what is actually happening is that the British and US governments are handing over stonking amounts of public cash, cash that will take generations to tax back off people, to the bankers in exchange for absolutely fuck all, and certainly no publicly-accountable control

That's as good an expression of Corporate Fascism*, not Communism, as you're ever likely to see

What's going on here is an awful lot of middle-class conservatives can see that they're getting buttfucked but cannot bring themselves to acknowledge that it's the very system they've endorsed all these years that is being harnessed to do the buttfucking

A huge swathe of what was once acceptable political thought and analysis, by the Old Left anyway, has been dismissed as 'conspiracy theory' and removed from mainstream discussion. Only ideological scraps remain for mainstream left wingers and conservatives to fight over - restricted mainly to how government can best fund all the monopolies that have been privatised.

Human affairs are, apparently, random and uncontrolled. Bad things, such as economic slumps and currency collapses, must be endured, and mitigated wherever possible, like a force of nature.

The weather, on the other hand, we apparently can control. So spending lots of time on that, whilst the banksters continue sticking it up our rear end, is promoted enthusiastically

I won't be linking to examples of the kind of tossers I'm talking about because they deserve fuck all traffic, even the meagre trade a referral from me would bring them

They had virtually fuck all to say about the murder in Gaza and have absolutely fuck all to say about the current financial crisis.

The Brown End of the Wedge

I went out with some friends for a few beers last night and, as luck would have it, I found myself sitting for most of the night with an unobstructed view of the MI6 HQ across the Thames




Not being the greatest fan of the building even when sober, the effects of a few drinks only enhanced the malevolence of the place

Later on in the evening, back at home, I flipped on my computer for a few minutes of relaxing, semi-inebriated surfing. I found myself reading through the comments underneath Guido Fawkes' post on the subject of a video of Tory MP Damian Green's office being searched by anti-terror police...





The mix of right wing libertarians, conservatives and Little Englanders who comment on the site were understandably outraged at the implications of Green's arrest for civil liberties in this country

and all I could think to myself was 'Where was your outrage when the government was doing this to Muslims? Did you really think it was going to stop with just one group of people? Are you really that fucking stupid, you hypocritical, self-interested, narrow-minded, bigoted fucks?'

I banged my head against the keyboard a couple of times then went to bed...

I'm currently in the process of dismantling my home, well its contents, piece by piece which means I'm not posting very much lately

Which I regret, as all sorts of interesting things are happening

Not least this breaking news from The Independent yesterday that...

My regular reader and Lord Patel's more extensive subscribership might possibly notice one or two slight parallels with posts written by myself and Lord P. a fortnight ago

The Independent credits not one but two journalists with the scoop - one presumably to type the search strings into Google and the other to cut and paste the results into their employer's newspaper

It's worth comparing the last line in yesterday's Independent story...


"Yesterday, Mr Davis told The IoS: "Mr Bell is an old friend. He did initially help set up my website for the present campaign, for which payment will be made and declared in due course." Mr Bell did not respond."


with the Bell quote in the PR Week story which was published shortly after myself and Lord P's posts...


"The website will support Davis' by-election fight following his high-profile resignation from the Conservative Party front bench last week. F-H regional president Kevin Bell said the agency's digital team had been involved in website design, adding that he has known Davis for 20 years. Bell said he would not rule out providing further PR support should Davis need it."


So apparently, Davis is implying that his old friend Bell's involvement stopped at the initial web site registration and design stage, Mr Bell something different

and to the couple of people who suggested to me that any large PR agency is probably going to have a diverse range of clients with contradictory interests and therefore Davis employing F-H is no big deal - can I just remind them that Davis didn't pick F-H because it was a large successful agency. Davis selected it because of Bell.

This stinks to high heaven and, speaking personally, turned me off Davis' campaign as soon as I identified the connection

Still, looking on the bright side, David Icke might be standing against David Davis.

Now if only David Shayler could be persuaded to stand as well, people would have a REAL democratic choice of Messianic Davids to save them from the Shadowy Overlords

Two Wings of the same Bird

I've just got back from picking up a few things at my local Tescos. One recent change which has been made to the shop layout caught my eye. The entrance to the supermarket is now flanked by mounds of big boxes of items on special, discount store style; tins of budget baked beans, canned hot dog sausages and Haribo all being sold '2 for one'

Hmmm, sacharine sweetened beans, mechanically recovered pigs’ lips in brine and artificially flavoured gelatine; all available at half price, yum yum

Tescos' highly trained food technicians had obviously put a lot of thought into providing the ingredients for a perfectly balanced, cost-effective, two course meal in these difficult times of high food inflation.

It’s little things like this which give a clue as to how shit life is becoming for people who were already stretched before their food and energy bills started leaping up by 20, 30, 40%

But fret not, our governing political party understands the concerns of its electorate.

…where you can see that, in its attempt to turn the local parliamentary seat into an inherited fiefdom, the Labour Party is taking a strong stand against legal immigrants and underclass 'yobs' and demonising people it doesn’t like on the basis of their origins/ accidents of birth

It’s getting quite difficult now, even after exercising all the insight and empathy that I can muster, to understand why anyone still votes for this bunch of hypocritical c**ts

The Conspiraloon Manifesto

And whilst on the subject of Troof Seekers and Conspiraloonery, last week’s defeats for our governing political party gave rise to multiple threads/ discussions all over the InterTut asking just why it is the Labour Party received such a kicking




Amusingly, if you read Labour.org you'll find yourself thinking that the number one reason was the recent smoking ban. A lot of working class Labour supporters were really f**ked off about that one

Personally, I think we’re witnessing something slightly more significant than a smokers’ revolt at work here

What we’re witnessing is the expiry of a long-outdated political fairy tale which cannot even pretend to explain how the world works any more

The fairy tale in question is the nonsense that people can be roughly split into two carefully, pre-prepared political belief systems called ‘Left’ and ‘Right’ and that all the really big stuff that goes on in the world happens more or less by accident

And, sooner, or later if you do keep pretending that stuff like the price of food or botched occupations of other peoples’ countries are essentially the product of mistakes, accidents and uncontrollable forces you come to a point where you have to shrug your shoulders and admit that you understand, and therefore can do, fuck all about fuck all

Conspiraloons on the other hand, whilst not blind to the hand of the Earth Mother and stochastic forces, do believe that a fair old bit of the shit inflicted on us is either deliberate wickedness or a by-product of deliberate wickedness; usually on the part of people who have accumulated so much money and power that they are plain bonkers




The thing is, if you are a Conspiraloon who believes that the world is being deliberately moulded to serve the interests of finance capital and The Few and that threats such as terrorism and global warming are being hyped up to assist that moulding process, you can easily knock-out an enormous manifesto of positive change that could be implemented to make the world a better place for 99.99% of us

And crucially, much, if not all of that manifesto could be formulated in a way that totally ignored Left vs. Right, divide and rule bullshit

A few examples off the top of my head…

• Cease the creation of hyper-inflationary quantities of worthless money

• Legislate against speculators fucking around with the prices of essential commodities, especially food, by implementing a simple requirement that anyone buying food, or oil, or whatever forward is actually in the food, or oil, or whatever, business.
  
  (There are plenty of operators in commodity markets who are driving future prices up but who always sell-on their holdings before they have to accept physical delivery. It really would be amusing to see someone delivering 10,000 tons of grain or rice outside the head office of a London or New York based hedge fund every once in a while)

• Withdraw forces from Iraq – the argument that we have a moral obligation to stay until things somehow get better is profoundly flawed. No-one would advocate that a wife-beater should continue living with his Mrs until they work things out. Well, no-one I know anyway

• End private monopolies over essential utilities such as water

• End public subsidy of private monopolies

• Bring in legislation and a tax regime which favours creation of mutual financial institutions
  

• Apply the same ludicrously low burden of proof and high sentencing to political and corporate corruption as is currently applied to terror suspects

• Make honesty pay. Create financial incentives for the investigation and conviction of political and corporate corruption - in the same way that people who investigate low-level benefit and tax fraud are given incentives

• Open up a few dozen new coal mines, quickly

• Apply and grant public access to the same level of surveillance and data mining applied to politicians and corporations as is applied to ordinary, law abiding citizens. Scrap any system or law which does not apply equally to citizenry and establishment

• Inclusion of ‘None of the Above’ as a candidate in all elections. Election of ‘NotA’ would automatically trigger a new election from which all previous candidates are barred

• For every new law made, scrap at least two

You could carry on all day. It would practically write itself

Alternatively, you could stick with non-Loon views and keep supporting the current political paradigm and politicians who when faced with widespread public concern about crippling inflation, the gradual meltdown of our financial system, the costly consequences of pre-emptive wars of aggression and the seemingly endless erosion of civil liberties come up with this blinding solution to all those concerns…



Sounds like the mother of all election winners to me
