I was half tempted to leave a comment with a link to something I saw on Youtube the other day but thought better of contributing something that could be interpreted as trivialising a serious issue
No such scruples with my own blog though
The Disintegrator...
I think the film-maker has captured the fetishistic aspects of Gun Love beautifully
and if he (it has to be a he) isn't a big Predator fan I'll eat my Jesse Ventura action doll
Bill Duke - one of the few stars of Predator who didn't go on to become a US State Governor - which illustrates something significant about either the US political system or the casting criteria of 1980s sci-fi action movies
and The Disintegrator is sort of funny because it's non-lethal
Just like tasers

Ah yes, the "non-lethal" taser device:
A March [2006] report from Amnesty International revealed that since June 2001, 152 people have died in the USA after being shot with tasers, 61 in 2005 alone. Since March, the number of deaths has now grown to over 200. Most were subjected to multiple or prolonged shocks. In 23 US cases coroners have listed the use of the taser as a cause or a contributory factor in death and in three cases in 2005 the taser was listed as a primary cause of death.
OK, non lethal-ish
Ventura's a bit of a conspiraloon too...
He discusses at length the assassination of President Kennedy. He scorns the idea that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone, and claims that during a trip to Dallas as governor a police officer warned him to avoid talking too much about "things that certain people don't want brought to light."
Ventura also airs his suspicion that "somebody in the government" sent people to infiltrate a government course he taught at Harvard University in 2004, on a day he discussed Kennedy's assassination. He repeatedly shows a fascination with conspiracy theories and surveillance, recalling several encounters he had with CIA agents while governor and claiming that his wife found an electronic listening device at their private home during his term.
and not forgetting the fact that JV was intimately involved in the fallout from Paul Wellstone's little, um, accident
That's sad about Wellstone.
I remember reading somewhere that Democratic politicians are twice as likely to die in plane crashes as their Republican counterparts.
Yeah, but that's mostly friends and associates of the Clintons
Some flyers are luckier than others
Googled anti-tazer vest and came up with a yahoo answers link.
The answers given are staggering. Eg, 3 "...If someone needs this vest, they have serious problems." Does he mean that someone lives under a repressive regime?
Or, 5, "Are you looking to find ways to pursue a life of crime with little or no consequence?"
one or two slightly more enlightened comments here including handy users' tips such as...
"So then ... if you get tazed while wearing one, the prudent thing to do would be to pretend you are being tazed."
