Ciao Ken, it's been wonderful

Immediately after the 7/7 bombings Ken Livingstone made a speech which, aside from the usual egocentric self-promotion, veered dangerously towards the statesmanlike and the humane...

"I want to say one thing specifically to the world today. This was not a terrorist attack against the mighty and the powerful. It was not aimed at Presidents or Prime Ministers. It was aimed at ordinary, working-class Londoners, black and white, Muslim and Christian, Hindu and Jew, young and old. It was an indiscriminate attempt to slaughter, irrespective of any considerations for age, for class, for religion, or whatever.

That isn't an ideology, it isn't even a perverted faith - it is just an indiscriminate attempt at mass murder and we know what the objective is. They seek to divide Londoners. They seek to turn Londoners against each other."

I almost respected him for a moment

but aside from that it's been business as usual under cuddly Ken...
  • money spunked on monstrously crooked public-private 'partnerships'

  • that fraudulent Olympic bid

  • the ridiculous congestion charge which has achieved very little aside from lining contractors' pockets and making the roads a little less congested for the rich

  • outright graft and corruption, not least the supremely dodgy Brixton Base project. I can, wait for it (reaches for camera), see the now empty 'Base' out of my front window and I believe that, twat that he is, Andrew Gilligan sussed it out pretty fair and square

The Brixton money pit

  • and, above all, the pure and simple arrogance of power. Anyone who has watched the contempt with which Livingstone has treated the elected assembly to which he should have been accountable should have been appalled at his behaviour

I can honestly say the time I took out of my day to vote against Livingstone yesterday was one of the most rewarding ways I have found to spend fifteen minutes of my life

even my local (Labour) MP thinks Ken's a twunt

this 'at least Labour's better than the Tories' crap doesn't wash any more, even if it ever did, which I doubt very much.

In many, many ways, the current shower of bastards have managed to outshine even Thatchler

The Labour party died and was resurrected as a zombie puppet fifteen or more years ago and it's about time a few more people realised that

Bye bye Ken. It's looking like (fingers crossed) you're unemployed now but something tells me that you won't be short of a bob or two

-

and in related news, here's that clip of Richard Littlejohn bitchslapping that most supremely annoying of Champagne Socialists/ Limousine Liberals Polly Toynbee - as great an enemy of ordinary people as any Tory grandee or fascistic rabble rouser...

When it comes to a toss-up between the likes of Littlejohn or Toynbee I definitely choose neither

Unfortunately Ken losing has to be twinned with Boris winning. You seemed to have missed this minor point.

Given that its unlikely he or his minders actually thought he would do it, I'm a bit concerned about what he might "achieve".

I know I'll be out of step with people I normally agree with on many issues but my disgust with Livingstone is profound

The Labour party has got away with disgusting things over the last ten years on the basis that the only alternative was the Tories

and f**k the Liberals for putting up a candidate as weak as Paddick

you are, of course, correct about Johnson

as someone said on the GF blog he might make for an entertaining mayor but he shouldn't be given any launch codes

I'm just grateful that my local Labour MP doesn't present me with a crappy choice

if I lived a few hundred yards away and I'd be faced with the prospect of voting for Harriet Harman

just a glance at the difference in their respective voting records shows just how fucked up the Labour party has become

ooops, I almost forgot another reason to love Kuddly Ken

Ken Livingstone has leapt to the defence of Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair after his force was found guilty of catastrophic failings in the shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes.

Well, as Polly once said, hold your nose and vote Ken or Boris.

Ken's also the twat who said that he was going *force*, through jacking up cash fares, everyone to use those nice friendly Oyster cards. A bit of a poke in the eye with a sharp stick for anyone that remembers Fair's Fare from the days before public transport systems were hijacked by corporations.

The establishment is completely useless to the great unwashed masses.

Time for the great unwashed masses to figure out a better way than playing medieval follow the self-serving leader into serfdom.

You are quite right Stef.
However, it only goes to highlight the lack of choice we have.
I could see some reasons to vote for Ken (I, personally, like Chavez). I could see few reasons to vote for Boris.
Still, we are stuck with some form of tactical voting amid a mass of conflicting interests.
There are many people who would rather have a heart attack than vote for either who have done just that.

Up here in Scotland, I have heard many views.
One guy said 'If Boris gets in it is the end of British politics as he is a fucking clown'. Correct.
Others have said, 'If Ken gets back in, the electoral fraud necessary will show us how it actually works'. Correct.

Me?
I think both parties are the same and it won't make much difference because they are all marionetted from elsewhere.

The good thing about Boris having a real job is that Cameron is now his bitch.

well quite, it should be interesting

The whole thing was a fuck up

Irregularities in one of my local polling station meant that papers were disqualified and I've heard talk, but not seen the actual figures, of 400,000 spoiled votes this time round. There certainly were something like 380,000 disqualified papers last time.

The completed ballot papers were stored in flimsy cardboard boxes and when I saw the coverage of 'counters' stuffing the ballots into shiny electronic counting machines yesterday I thought 'oh bollocks...'

and then there's the postal votes...

it's getting all very American

Not seen the latest QT yet, but watched the snipped you provided. Ta.

Littlejohn(ny) has a point to a certain degree although I'm not proud to say so. Toynbee and the other usual talking (d)heads on that panel do live in a abstract world, but so of course does LittleJohn(ny)! - a point dumbfounded (LOL) ToyWivMe began to develop in her panic at being shown as a wee bit 2 faced.

I agree what you say about PadDICK. The LD have rocketed firther up my scale of suspicions mirage casters.

ToyWivMe was nominated for www.inminds.co.uk's "Most Islamophobic Media
Personality of the Year 2003 award" alongside:
Melanie Phillips
Nicky Campbell
Robert Kilroy-Silk

A little bit unmerited perhaps given two of the entrants. I think that she is just a victim of her own insularity.
