Economy in meltdown. Gas supplies Failing. War in the Middle East... but the Big Dick says there's nothing to worry about

I've got a crisp fiver in my pocket that says that's the last thing he's going to do...

well, the daft old cock is definitely right about one thing - farting on about God definitely is a distraction from all the shit that's going on in the world

There was a remarkable man by the name of Terence Grant who once said,

"...give any information you have garnered to a fellow traveler along the Way. Why? Because the same information would have helped the person who compiled it if it had been given to him, and that is why he compiled it --- and that is why it should be offered to others along the Way."

There is no mystery whatever - only inability to perceive the obvious.

Dawkins is a moron. While I'm not religious myself (agnostic), it seems to me that atheists\devil worshippers\false theists can often be more damaging to the world than theists.

Sorry Terence Grey!

His writings throw the Intellect into a knot,Gobbledygook some may say,Dawkins for eg.

More on Terence here.

Should I be suprised that he lived for over 100 years despite being born in 1895? :p

My Grandparents' and Gt Grandparents' generations lived longer than my parents' generation is managing to

For every penicillin there's at least one aspartame

Dawkins frequently claims that we have secular western science to thank for wonderful things such as increased life expectancies and aeroplanes, when the reality is a bit more complicated than that

Advances such as improved hygiene and sanitation and the trial and error, empirical approach which has been behind so many technology advances are perfectly within the capabilities of credulous Sky God worshipers

I think, if I were an atheist, I'd like the idea of a Richard Dawkins more than the reality

Whenever, he crops up on the airwaves, which is a lot, I'm in the habit of re-reading this article he wrote five days after 9/11...

Religion's misguided missiles

...to remind me just how much of a cock he is

There's a very good reason why Dawkins gets so much airtime

He provides an intellectual veneer to the claim that brown people around the world hate our system because, allegedly, their holy books tells them to

The possibility that brown people around the world hate our system because it kills and subjugates so many of them whilst stealing from them is right outside of the scope of Dickie Boy's radar

I as a Nihilist have to say that there is no sense in arguing about god - as there is actually no sense in anything. No meaning. No grand plan. No secret hand. Nada. No sense, anywhere.

Well, to be precise, there is no inherent meaning. There is the meaning we can choose to imbue the world with.

Tricky concept, just starting to grapple it...

And as with regards to god: He was created by man in his image. And then man choose to kill god, as he could not have any gods before him.

This Dawkins guy reminds me of a gay blogger who was leading a crusade against anything religious. (Actually, he was a big fan of Dawkins) His choosen enemies were mainly Scientology and Christianity. As these are the homes to some manipulative scumbags, I should have been pleased with it (like when you, Stef, tackle them), but something put me of. He took it to a kind of personal level. He wanted to eradicate religion. And he very very much hated the people believing in this religious shit (pour souls I say). And he honestly believed he had every right to do wage a crusade against them, thought he had the moral high ground. It very very very much reminded me of the Christian zealots fighting gays. It was a war nerd kind of "your gang. my gang" thing. Made me sick. Why should I show solidarity with such a person?

The problem with many many many people is not that they do "bad" things, it is that they very firmly believe that they do the right thing.

Heh, thanks for the link Stef, read it before but it's nice to go over again.

And there was me thinking that most suicide bombers had something to do with manipulating those in extreme poverty.

Dawkins of course has the solution to it right under his nose - talk about God endlessy in unfavourable terms and everyone will think you are a scientist and hire you for speeches. A few books released to the disenchanted youth of America and you solve the poverty issue!

Organized religion has fuck all to do with the Quest for truth or reality or God or whatever you want to call it.
Organized religion is just another form of politics spiritual politics if you like.

If Dawkins focused on the sins of organised religion and acknowledged that theft, not religion, is the underlying cause of most, if not all, wars then I wouldn't criticise him for being a total cock

But he doesn't so I do

It's also worth remembering that Dawkins rose to fame off the back of pushing his 'Selfish Gene' crap at the start of the Thatcher'/ Reagen Era

And now, here he is, 30 years later, pushing the canard that religion is the driving factor behind the latest round of neocolonial theft and murder

He's an apologist for the very worst excesses of our establishment and guilty of the very same sins he tries to pin on others

I am by all practical connotation, an atheist; last night I attended a lecture by the good doctor Dawkins at the University of Texas at Austin. I am all for lively discussion and information but the glazed-eyed sycophants that attended, appeared more to me as if they were there to hear a sermon from a Southern Baptist preacher than to take in a scholarly lecture from a notable scientist. He and his unrelenting ego did not disappoint them. It very much smacked of a Revival Meeting and I quite expected to see someone to get up and start speaking in tongues or come down front to be healed… by science, of course."

Apparently anyone who criticises "The God Delusion" must be a rabid religious nut taking it personally...
