Public Service Announcement

"This way children..."

Non-British visitors to this and other British based blogs might be unaware that a small section of the British Blogging Community
(sic.) is pioneering a voluntary self-certification system

If you see something like this button...

...displayed prominently on a UK-based blog you can be 100% confident that the author(s) has completely lost the plot and needs to sit down somewhere dark and quiet and think things through for a while

And if you don't know what I'm talking about please don't ask (you can ask this chap though). I really can't be arsed to deal with the poxy emails threatening me with bullshit libel actions that would undoubtedly ensue. Not this week anyway. (edit: I'm in the mood now)

Yes its strange how the idea of 'community' has transformed from a population that lives together geographically to a population that has shared interests.
I always seem to be hearing about what the intelligence community or the defence community think.
The creepy collegiate aspects of the 'smuggler' (smug blogger) community always puts me off a bit, especially when rallying round their joan of arc.

Maybe, in this cold, atomised world, I'm a little jealous of them

It's strange how it apes the current mad(ddie)ness in the hated mainstream media.
'Download this image to show you're doing something'

Can an audience with the nazi pontiff be far off for the mistress of misfortune?

Stef said...

Ah, you noticed that too...

Ho ho ho! Stef, I doff my well-worn cap to your shrewd inventiveness. I like your style and what's more I like your content.

I shan't be asking what this is all about as it's probably not wise to pass comment on any grotesque, vindictive, Nazi-style witchhunts launched by a small section of the British Blogging Community™ in the run up to one of several timely book launches, for on their sanctimonious haunches they will no doubt rise.

The Smuggler Mad(die)ness continues....

I'd like to see it but when I try to visit AaF I get bumped with a 403 message

Ha Ha

That is awesome!

Sorry guys I'm not a "conspiraloon" but I simply got into this because the villages were looking restless and lighting their torches.

Can I steal that icon for my blog?

BTW if anyone wants to steal my icon, feel free, but please can upload it and host it rather than link directly?

Thanks!

BTW please email your IP address if you can't get access.

I have an automatic filter for IP addresses which I can modify.

Thanks for the links guys.

I've no essential problem with non-conspiroloons. Many of them go on to lead perfectly normal lives.

It's dickheads I have a issues with

Speaking of dickheads.... it looks as if someone has organised a very concerted, if rather unsubtle, cross-media marketing campaign as part of the witch-hunt:

Looks like a reasonably well organised but rather pointless conspiracy to me.

New Exciting Communities, you can stick them up your bollocks, to paraphrase roy keane

Stef said...

Oh dear...

First the utterly pointless campaign against Paul Staines (Tory boy that he is) and now this

What's really, really funny about this business is how sane this obsessive nonsense leaves us conspiroloons looking

It won't long before many of the useful idiots who have signed up to this bollocks start realising just how fucking stupid they're being.

Not that it had much credibility in the first place but there's one small corner of the British blogosphere that's never going to recover from this

Fuck 'em, they weren't doing anything useful or interesting anyway

I hate lying, jumped-up Masonic cunts.

Stef said...

@alex - I can now see your blog and I must say that the Hamburglar button looks very comfortable in its new home from home. In retrospect I'd wish I'd spent a little more time (i.e. more than two minutes) putting it together

Stef said...

Correct me if I'm wrong Shahid but that reference to 'lying Masonic cunts' appears to been made under the wrong post and seems more comfortable under the post about Zoellick, Wolfowitz, Prince Philip et al - whose membership of some seriously fruity little clubs is a matter of record

wrt the to ongoing cyber-pogrom that this post refers to I have seen no evidence that any of the participants are in any way 'crafty' or savvy enough to realise just how daft and plain insane their behaviour is. If the future of conflict and struggle in the 21st Century is to be information based you really would want this crowd to be playing for the other team

So, in the context of this post I respectfully suggest that 'lying Masonic cunts' should read 'daft cunts'

AF said...

It's a very sad affair isn't it.

Of course you could have done something really snazzy had you spent longer than 2 minutes, me also.

But like you, I do not have an axe to grind, vendetta or nothing better to do with my time, unlike the proponents of the lynching.

Oh look. The buttons have come down straight away, the FJL update posts on R's blog are deleted, the convicted absconded criminal has been apprehended and jailed caught, by the way, as a direct result of the public awareness campaign and now the stalker is in prison awaiting psychiatric reports pre-sentencing. Perhaps getting the help she needs.

But of course, let's ignore that, let's all kick R, and pass on our little buttons instead. How dare R be a victim of crime more than once? How dare she eventually write about being stalked after the stalker got convicted? More importantly how dare she criticise conspiracy theories? How dare she have support from other bloggers?

Let's quickly all take the side of a mentally ill and vicious woman who made many people's lives a misery, who has previous stalking convictions, who absconded and continued to harass her victims. Let's do that.

Anything rather than accept North might have a point and the campaign to find a blogger by other bloggers might have worked.

Let's also ignore the fact that the stalker daily published attempts get the public to turn on North on several demented blogs, and elsewhere on internet in a concerted witch hunt of her own for several months. Ignore the fact that the convicted stalker went to the police with false complaints about North first, forcing police involvement - North had been ignoring her.

FJL daily called North all manner of things far worse than the police description North passed on. But I notice you don't call that a witch-hunt. You don;t even call it what it is: harassment.

As to the stuff about the book, how is all this supposed to help sell a book that isn;t even published and won't be til end July? As timing goes it's hopeless. Are you actually implying North got herself stalked for a year to sell a book that isn't even available?

Boy, are you conspiratorially-minded

Stef said...

And you are very amusing

Stef said...

No, on second thoughts, not that amusing

I'd really like to reply with something more cogent but it's a bit tricky responding to waffle about stuff like 'taking sides' or book publicity that don't figure in my post. So I assume your comment must be directed at other commentators

I'm sure that they're big boys/ girls who can look after themselves
