Best fish ever?

For reasons that are gradually becoming harder and harder to remember, this blog includes a special 'Fish of the Month' feature which involves me selecting a species of fish that has either made an outstanding contribution to world events or has distinguished itself in some other way over the course of the month.

And August's winner is...

The Blobfish

The blobfish (Psychrolutes marcidus) is a fish that inhabits the deep waters off the coasts of Australia and Tasmania. Due to the inaccessibility of its habitat, it is rarely seen by humans.

Blobfish are found at depths where the pressure is several dozens of times higher than at sea level, which would likely make gas bladders inefficient. To remain buoyant, the flesh of the blobfish is primarily a gelatinous mass with a density slightly less than water; this allows the fish to float above the sea floor without expending energy on swimming. The relative lack of muscle is not a disadvantage as it primarily swallows edible matter that floats by in front it.

I'm sure they featured one of those on Richard and Judy recently.

Clearly, the blobfish is supremely adapted to its environment

as are Richard and Judy's guests

Psychrolutes marcidus is I note an anagram of Stef's fucking Joke of the week.

I think it is fatty Soames ...of whom a young lady is said to have said that being made love to by him was like a wardrobe with a key on the lock falling on you.

Looking at blobfish, it's quite easy to see how it could devolve into one of Richard and Judy's guests, and then start talking about diet or some other self-obsessed trauma disorder.

Looks more like Judy to me.

Here's a good conspiracy for you though - Richard and Judy?

They're mother and son...
