Having a bad day officer?

One of your boys got caught on video doing something he wasn't supposed to?

Someone died?

State Broadcaster unable to bury the story along with the unfortunate victim?

Porkie pies not working?

If all else fails, how about trying this...

'TEN MEN ARRESTED IN TERROR RAIDS!!'

Thank you War on Terror. Is there no problem you cannot solve?

Thats story does seem to reek, something very contrived about it.

"Cameras pictured Britain's most senior counter terrorism police officer, Assistant Commissioner Bob Quick, clutching sensitive documents as he arrived in Downing Street.

Among the papers under his arm was a white document clearly marked "secret" and carrying an outline briefing on an ongoing counter-terrorism operation.

The information included the names of several senior officers, locations and details about the nature of the overseas threat.

On Wednesday evening he apologised, saying he "deeply regretted" leaving the document on show."

They've arrested Caucasian\Aryan looking people from what I can tell. I guess anyone can an Al-Qaeda Islamic Fundamentalist, not just those "darkies"...

Still, some people never learn.

Yes, they wheel out the old "war on terror" smokescreen - the moronic masses are easily distracted.
Word verificating "Hingless"... a door without hinges?

Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner Bob Quick was photographed entering Downing Street carrying a briefing note headed SECRET, on which details of an undercover operation against a suspected Al-Qaeda cell could clearly be seen.

I bet the 'SECRET' was written in red crayon too.

and 0 out of a possible 10 to Bob Quick for originality...

UK house prices could fall "at best" by 5-10% this year, according to secret Cabinet briefing notes accidentally revealed by a housing minister.

The notes - prepared by officials for Caroline Flint - also said: "We can't know how bad it will get."

Ms Flint, who was photographed with the notes as she entered No 10 for a Cabinet meeting, shrugged the incident off saying: "These things happen".

And the story now of course become that favorite of the mainstream media - the incompetence of those in power. Rather than their wickedness.

Just got back in and was about to blog about the same thing as Stef.

"Tell it to the marines" sprung to mind.

In this case, the guys can be held without charge for a long time and the excuse will be 'we didn't have time to investigate carry out due diligence etc etc'.

PS I am finding that Firefox crashes every time I attempt to enter CiF.

Any one else having problems?

I am recently re-formatted but find it strange that only that site is affected.

A somewhat sad and shabby figure, he drank heavily and was estranged from his wife and family. He had been homeless for a while

He would have had every reason in this world to smash the system that was in (large?) part responsible for his fate. Yet he behaved by far much more civilized than those who are entrusted to protect this wonderful arrangement called capitalism - well wonderful for some. Those who rebel against this are called the lunatics, and those who protect it are called sane and rational? What a strange world it is.

So people who are alleged to be terrorists are alleged to be plotting stuff and are known about and left unmolested. Then theres a security leak. Then they are all quickly arrested. If they were known terrorists why werent they IMMEDIATELY arrested after that became known and not when later forced to by events?

As all they have probably been doing is talking shit on an internet chatroom (with a little encouragement, no doubt), the society destroying plans weren't at arrest level yet.

possibly a question requiring application of Oaten's Razor

Round and round we go.

that's hilarious - I must remember that - though I do think the humour was a little better than Delboy and co.
Maybe one has to be a Paddy to really appreciate it.

Admittedly it comes across as a little dated now

I went to a (mostly Irish) Catholic school in South London so both shows worked for me

One or two similarities in the characters/ general scenario don't you think ;)

"The Sun's approach here is a bit reminiscent of this..."

and not forgetting this

Hubris said...

One or two similarities in the characters/general scenario don't you think

now I feel stoopid, my brain hurts

you are right about the character lineup and the general scenario but the humour in FT was a little more surreal.

I should have known about the catholic thingy from your name - but I just presumed no one uses their real name on der intardnet - AND I figured your name might be a bad attempt at a pun, to be honest ;-)

Stef said...

"but I just presumed no one uses their real name on der intardnet"

lol

If I were to start over I almost certainly wouldn't

and as for my name being some kind of crude pun it is an ancient and illustrious name which roughly means, in dialect, someone gifted with the stubbornness which comes with great stupidity

(every now and again I'll meet a native Italian who, because English is clearly my first language, will helpfully say something like 'You know what your name means don't you?'...)

sincerely,

Steve Bonehead

feckin hell - that's almost exactly what MY surname means as well, when translated into Ingrish

imagine my surprise!
;-)

Really? My original name translated roughly as "safe" (as in, safe and sound, secure).

I like OF&H, cant stand FT though.
Eg. "These are small, the ones out there are far away", stuff like this not only misses my funny bone it makes me question writer hiring policies!

Stef said...

The U.K. government now is bracing for the possibility that it may not have enough evidence to prosecute most of the 12 people arrested, according to two people familiar with the matter. That could result in the case becoming an immigration matter focusing on whether the suspects properly entered the U.K. from Pakistan, these people said.

Police have been granted time to detain those arrested, and evidence could still result in a major terrorist case.

Stef said...

"These are small, the ones out there are far away"

that's actually my favourite FT line

that and

'chewing gum for the eyes!'
'no thanks Ted'

Anti_NWO said...

Remember Ian Blair's "we shouldn't distinguish between crime and terrorism so easily"?

I guess immigration offences = terrorism these days...

gyges said...

On to more important matters, viz, "Alien Hand Syndrome.

Is that a double pun I spy in the title of the paper?

Stef said...

@gyges

yes, I noticed that story as well and was meaning to work a link into it somewhere

but clearly you have the matter in hand

gyges said...

@Steph

"but clearly you have the matter in hand"

Well, quite. A story like that, as far as I'm concerned, requires being throttled.
