Intermission continues

Off on a jet plane halfway around the world, via the US, tomorrow

Oh dear

Here's my list of Top 5 motion pictures I least expect to find available in the classic movie section of the in-flight entertainment system...

1. Moonraker

2. Mission Impossible 2

3. Outbreak

4. The Satan Bug

5. I am Legend

In case you haven't noticed there are one or two common themes

Beats me. Is it all the titles contain vowels?

Not exactly front page news

I bet they wouldn't show this.

Did they have any of these on the flight? Surely they'd find room for 28 Days/Weeks Later and Planet Terror?

I would avoid the US, even if it cost more to fly via Asia...

Oh the fun: George Monbiot "disproves" Christopher Booker, only to find out that Booker was right about Artic Ice...

Not that I like any of those two.

Why do people don't see that they *themselves* can fall prey to heuristics and biases? Why do many many people think that only *other* people make mistakes? On the other hand, I try to stay critical of my own judgement but this is not very healthy if overdone. Sometimes I envy people that are so sure of themselves that they can ignore all the mistakes they make...

Have fun driving yourself nuts!

We just were not properly built for a rational world...

@parabellum

lol

thank you

I would have missed that Monbiot piece if it wasn't for your link

and the answer to your question I think is that the boundless human capacity for blind faith in Wrong is an essential requirement for continued survival

the evolution/ creation of self awareness was undoubtedly a very marvellous thing

but if that self-awareness is evolved/ created to such a point that the self-aware creature is aware of how plain fucking ignorant it is then that might prove to be just a little bit of a practical problem in getting on with its daily life

Parabellum - 'Not that I like any of those two.' [sic]

A bit unfair. Monbiot's a conceited little twat, agreed, but Booker consistently exposes humbug, corruption and conflicts of interest. See his latest offering in the Sunday Telegraph on Dr Raj Pachauri, chairman of the IPCC. The doc is so crooked it makes me wonder why they didn't give him the Nobel prize instead of Al Gore.
