It wasn't meant to happen like this. The climate scientists told us that our winters would become wetter and our summers drier. So I can't claim that these floods were caused by climate change, or are even consistent with the models. But, like the ghost of Christmas yet to come, they offer us a glimpse of the possible winter world that we will inhabit if we don't sort ourselves out...
Yet another fine piece from the 'Tsunamis aren't caused by global warming but I'll work them into my piece anyway because my readers are stupid c*nts' school of ethical environmental journalism

Also the Climate Change subject got worked into the UK flooding by our very own Prime Minister in the first place, I'm amazed how he then does a back-flip to work it all into a hit-piece on the poor old Middle-Classes. Who seem to be responsible for all the world's ills these days, according to George et al anyway.
I'm looking forward to the day when he finds the balls to take his complaints to the Chinese government (might be waiting a while).

Ah, but hating Middle Class people is fun. So much fun that even the Middle Classes do it...
Back in the early 80s I attended Bristol University for a year - not being middle class by upbringing myself this proved to be a somewhat poor choice
A friend of mine had a group of friends from his public school who were attending the nearby Poly. They spoke with proto-Mockney accents, dressed like street cleaners (donkey jackets, doc martens etc) and were big SWP fans.
One night over a few beers they started banging on about the worker's revolution, the evil middle class, guff like that...
I asked one of them what his Dad did for a living...
His father was judge
I asked another...
His father was a hospital consultant
and so on, and so on
I thought they were dicks then and still think people like that are dicks today.
And as long as people, working class and middle class, continue to obsess about the sins of the Middle Classes they are not focusing on the much greater sins of the much smaller group of real bastards who are fucking the world over
