A little something for your Amazon wish list...

for the phisherman in your life who hasn't quite got everything...

Link to the full page here (thx yet again Tony)

Looking on the bright side, at least the disks that have gone missing didn't contain biometric data (not this year anyway) - imagine all those people affected having to change their fingerprints and retinas rather than a few on-line passwords. Messy...

Newsnight informed me that a 23 year old administration officer has 'resigned' over the affair. No doubt for the lavish pay off that seems to accompany high level failure.
Another NNnugget: computer security expert says the data will be valuable to id thieves, terrorists(????) and of course paedophile rings (as they have children's name and addresses!!!)

Did you know Alistair Darling wated much of his youth reciting drunken psychopath winston churchill's speeches into tape recorders?
Must be nice to know where you are fit to lead at such an early age...

What a bunch of stupid idiots...

"Make sure you computer has firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware programs so that people cannot scan your PC when you are on the internet."

It is not about SCANNING of, it is about the INTRUSION into you PC.

Almost the entire article focuses on "safe passwords" and not one word about the important topics like phishing, Nigeria, e-mail spoofing, spyware, trojans, drive-by-installs, browser-hijacking, botnets, rootkits (Hello Sony), backdoors, zero-day-exploits and ID-fraud (Has lost my seedees. Have you seen me seedees. Please bring back my ceedees).

What happened was that our beloved Prime Minister demonstrated that he was thick as pig shit

if West had 'changed' his opinion after a couple of months the government could have claimed that a sceptic had been converted after looking at the True Facts™ of the case

changing your opinion after a couple of hours indicates something different...

Four or five times now I've loaded up an Ubuntu installation CD but wimped out at the HD partitioning stage. A second, Linux-dedicated, HD is starting to look very attractive...
