not really.In Germany you cannot buy a mobile phone without your ID card.
Also in Germany you cannot rent or buy a house without first registering at your local Rathouse(council) and proving you are who you say you are,,for me a Brit I needed my Passport and a copy of my birth certificate.
The good thing (so far) is that the streets of Germany do not have a cctv camera on every corner.
In Italy you have to produce your 'Codice Fiscale'; something like a British National Insurance Number, for all sorts of purchases and transactions, including a cell phone
The Italians don't yet have CCTV on every street corner - they've gone straight for soldiers instead
Britain still lags with regards to some of the components of a perfect police state but it's doing really, really well in catching up where it does lag and steaming ahead where it doesn't
A question I frequently ask myself, and others, is why is Britain so often the pioneer of all these invasive new technologies?
You would have thought that a country which has not been subjugated or occupied for many hundreds of years would be the fiercely protective of the freedoms it has enjoyed
What is it about the population of the UK that makes it so susceptible to all these exciting new developments?
Is it complacency?
Too much shit TV?
Crap education?

I'm the first person to acknowledge the role played by shadowy elitist forces but, if truth be told, if we weren't so collectively fucking stupid those shadowy figures wouldn't get past first base
I've started to notice that a lot of people on the net are coming up with similar sets of solutions to the mess we're in. Someone's already commented along those lines in this blog...
- Ease up on the consumption
- Avoid debt
- Wherever possible, pay for stuff with cash, or even better, barter
- Stay healthy
- Stop feeding yourself crap
- Turn off the TV
- Read newspapers in the same way you'd read The Beano
- Work on at least partial self sufficiency
- Reduce your reliance on oil and gas
- Become an active part of a local network of people
- Learn a useful skill
- Reconnect with the things that make life worth living
Basically, live a greener less self-harmful lifestyle without being a self-righteous twunt with it ... or advocating coercive globalist bullshit

The phone thing is not really about phones though, it's more about ID cards I think. They will make so many things dependent on having one you will not be able to operate in society without getting a 'voluntary' ID card.
I agree about the things though, I hate mobiles and peoples dependence on thema. Someone we managed perfectly well pre-1995 didn't we?

When out with a few fellow Loons last week, and not discussing elitist child abuse, the subject of mobiles came up
and I was marveling at just how readily people have adopted units that
- bug their conversations
- act as a personal tracking unit
- expose them to regular doses of radiation, pumped out at microwave oven frequencies
some people even enhance the effect by jamming receivers into their ears, thinking it makes them look cool
unlike their brains
and the great thing is that people have submitted to this voluntarily, enthusiastically even - actually paying £30, £40, £50 a month for the privilege of being bugged, tracked and fried; living a lifestyle where you're constantly yapping to someone somewhere else, not the person who's with you at the time

a few weeks ago however picking the kids up from school the car fuel pump went in the middle of nowhere,luckily all the kids had mobiles,,it would have been a fairly long walk without them on that occasion.
That aside don´t have one and never will.
I only really have mine so I can be contacted on the move, but I'm thinking of ditching it altogether. If I was able to have my own phoneline here I'd have done so already.
