Orion's belt turns up in all sorts of places

Thornborough
.
This is a bit of a special interest post but I found out for the first time tonight about a place called Thornborough in Yorkshire. It's a stone age complex made up of three circular structures arranged in a pattern identical to the constellation of Orion's belt and, erm, the Pyramids.

Like the Pyramids we can be sure that the shape is supposed to mimic Orion's belt because there are other alignments with Orion in the structure. Strangely, the archaeologists I heard discussing Thornborough didn't mention the pyramid parallel. I wonder why not. It's probably got something to do with the fact that any linkage between the two sites would completely rewrite our current understanding of prehistory.
.
I've personally seen structures that suggest a similar pattern in the SW of the USA but am not independently wealthy and don't have the means to follow that up. I probably should find a way of doing so really.
.
Apparently the area around Thornborough has been used as a gravel quarry for years and is now to be turned into a landfill site. Yup, an enigmatic ancient site that hints at some kind of connection between stoneage Britain and Ancient Egypt c.2,500BC and its about to be obliterated with soiled nappies. Well that should do a good job of covering up any anomalous evidence.
