'The Middle Class Proletariat' aka 'We're all potential terrorists now'

And whilst waiting patiently for the imminent collapse of the world’s banking system and the return of the much-missed feudal economic system why not while away a few minutes flipping through a fascinating document a fellow Conspiraloon just reminded me of...

Called ‘Strategic Trends’ it is an 'independent view of the future produced by the Development Concepts and Doctrine Centre (DCDC), a Directorate General within the UK’s Ministry of Defence (MOD). It is a source document for the development of UK Defence Policy'.

It’s available as a downloadable pdf (dated March 2007) straight from
the MOD website here

My favourite bits come near the end in the section called ‘Strategic Shocks

Strategic Shocks
being…

“An analysis of trends and probable outcomes can only go so far in describing the future, the unexpected also needs to be taken into account - shocks will happen. Our discussion now outlines ways in which discontinuities may occur. This section makes no claim to be a comprehensive list of all possible shocks, but does seek to demonstrate how the world might develop in ways that are radically and intuitively different from outcomes derived from linear analysis.”

My two favourite potential Strategic Shocks being…

The Middle Class Proletariat

The middle classes could become a revolutionary class, taking the role envisaged for the proletariat by Marx. The globalization of labour markets and reducing levels of national welfare provision and employment could reduce peoples’ attachment to particular states. The growing gap between themselves and a small number of highly visible super-rich individuals might fuel disillusion with meritocracy, while the growing urban under-classes are likely to pose an increasing threat to social order and stability, as the burden of acquired debt and the failure of pension provision begins to bite. Faced by these twin challenges, the world’s middle-classes might unite, using access to knowledge, resources and skills to shape transnational processes in their own class interest.”

and

Terrorist Coalition of the Willing

Islamist terrorism is likely to remain the most obvious manifestation of the international
terrorist threat until at least 2020. However, changes in the strategic context could cause this threat to evolve in unusual ways. A generational change among leading Islamist terrorists could lead to a more broadly based coalition of opposition to the cultural invasion caused by globalization and modernization. A terrorist coalition, including a wide range of reactionary and revolutionary rejectionists, such as ultra-nationalists, religious groupings and even extreme environmentalists, might conduct a global campaign of greater intensity.”

Get the picture?

Alternatively, you could keep telling yourself that agencies of Western governments are not exploring the possibility of, and making provision for, waging counter-insurgent warfare against swathes of their own populations. After all, only a lunatic would believe stuff like that

here's the link to that MOD site again...

One day I'll get around to posting this stuff on own blog but, until then, Conspiraloon Ghost Writing services are available at a very reasonable rate....

You'll be delighted to know that a major US Conspiraloon portal 'What Really Happened' has just posted a link to Strategic Trends about 2 hours ago...

it's about time the readership of that report was expanded a little...

The two means of control - described by finer minds than mine as 'crimes against humanity' - are in place already.

Viz, fiat currency and passports.

Everything seems to be done to make these two manacles bind tighter.

I await my day of calling then.

'Middle Class people of the world unite! You have nothing to lose except your Volvos'

hmmm, I think that slogan might need some work

It certainly is.

Nice to know people other than the expected usual suspects are paying attention to the output of certain folks. I only posted that snippet at 3:03pm yesterday, so the fact it made it to such a widely read Conspiraloon portal so quickly is encouraging and/or worrying in equal parts.

it was quite quick wasn't it?

maybe it was a coincidence

Just like the 'coincidence' of the Glasgow Airport 'bomb' attack which, coincidentally, happened on the first day in office of the new, unelected, Scottish-born PM, Gordon BrNWO.

Coincidence-tastic!

they're what make the world go round

Just like the coincidence of a 'power surge' in London on the opening day of the G8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland on 7th July 2005.

Let's hope nobody takes the term 'power surge' out of its implied electrical context or things might just start making a bit of sense.

Just like tales of...

- dodgy donations
- dodgy property deals
- dodgy data security
- dodgy banks
- dodgy floats of government assets

...all fighting with each other to come clambering out of the woodwork at the same time

has somebody decided we need a change of government?

Top cop 'victim of smears'
By Jeff Edwards 26/11/2007

Scotland Yard yesterday hit back at claims Britain's top anti-terrorist chief was facing a probe over his expense claims.

Assistant Commissioner Andy Hayman, 48, was reported to be under scrutiny for taking his assistant, Inspector Heidi Tubby, on foreign trips.

Heidi Tubby?!

Yet again, you couldn't make it up...

The Antagonist said...

Hayman, lest we forget, was the slippery bastard who is alleged to have kept the PC PC Ian Blair out of the loop about quite what happened in the instance of the extra-judicial execution of Jean Charles de Menezes. It was also Hayman who heartily pushed for 90 days internment.

Many roads, it seems, lead to Norwich.

Absolutely the Middle class is pivotal. A quick gander at history shows that time has seen the population of the exo-"Nobility" grow. Revolutionary ideas of equal-citizenry from monotheism (sadly much corroded today) and stifling oppression by these "upper" class turds, it was only a matter of time that events like the peasants revolt in 1381 would take place. Wat Tyler had the potential to have destroyed the oppressive nobility but (tragically) didn't and true to form of the disgusting upper classes he was hideously killed for daring to challenge their perverse elitism.

Leaders have been fearful ever since of the people they love to torture and put through meat grinders stc. How to prevent future rebellions? Make a buffer - a middle class - people who still have to struggle, but whose life is just comfortable enough for them to lend support to status quo.

Were the middle classes engineered? Hard to say, but the result is, it's helped the elitists stay in power. Revolutionary catalysts like Mossadeg, Che and today Chavez must be stopped. Of course, the easier way is to do what John Perkins documents: try to bribe and seduce them first. If that doesn't work, construct inner strife, if that doesn't work send in the Jackals. If that doesn't work, bang, In goes the army.

It's the middle classes and the carrot of being able to climb into the middle classes that is the most successful tool for the insane plutocrats we are able to be aware of today, and are the key to preservation of this largely uncaring and exploitative society (capitalism) we have today.

Why the identification of 2020? Is that when the plan ends?

Front cover observations:

African man looking at a waterless land with a red cross beside him.
Chinese premier welcomed and escorted by proud Indian guards
German troops grabbing western civilians
AMERICAN flag at the HEART of the documents cover
White Scientist with evil look in front of 'new' scientific substance
Mobile British military power equipment
“New” Eurofighter in the skies.
Tank pointing east with a curious 'eye' shape on it.

No happy families, no smiles, no scenes of uninvaded unpolluted natural beauty.
Judging from its cover and snippets, 2007 to 2036 is going to be just dandy!

Interesting taxonomy, middle classes seem to equate to old fashioned ideas of 'respectable' working class ie have jobs but will require pensions, healthcare beyond their economic utility.
This selfish bunch are caught between 'growing urban under-classes', a dickensian informal surplus labour pool, and a 'small number of highly visible super-rich individuals'.
That they might become disillusioned with the laughably inappropriate 'meritocracy' and pursue their own 'class interest' is, lamentably, loontalk, but revealing of the whiggish mindset behind this document.

even the most cursory read of contemporary accounts of The Death of Watt Tyler make it quite clear that staged provocation and victors' history were already familiar concepts 600+ years ago

there's a street near to where I live named after William Walworth, the man who murdered Tyler - it's a sh*t hole

The document would be a lot shorter if it simply listed which demographic groups were not possible future strategic threats. It would also help clarify just who it is exactly the MoD thinks it is in the business of protecting from those threats

I don't think it would be a very long list
