However, several nations, most notably the United States, China, and Israel, have criticized the court and refuse to participate in it or to permit the court to have jurisdiction over their citizens. Note, however, that a citizen of one of the 'objector nations' could still find himself before the Court if he were accused of committing war crimes in a country that was a state party, regardless of the fact that their country of origin was not a signatory. War crimes are defined in the statute that established the International Criminal Court, which includes: 1. Grave breaches of the Geneva Conventions, such as: 1. Willful killing, or causing great suffering or serious injury to body or health 2. Torture or inhumane treatment 3. Unlawful wanton destruction or appropriation of property 4. Forcing a prisoner of war to serve in the forces of a hostile power 5. Depriving a prisoner of war of a fair trial 6. Unlawful deportation, confinement or transfer 7. Taking hostages 2. The following acts as part of an international conflict: 1. Directing attacks against civilians 2. Directing attacks against humanitarian workers or UN peacekeepers 3. Killing a surrendered combatant 4. Misusing a flag of truce 5. Settlement of occupied territory 6. Deportation of inhabitants of occupied territory 7. Using poison weapons 8. Only as a adult it gets more and more difficult to hear what your body tells you.

Don't know what to make of it, sounded plausible when I first heard it. Certainly this basic understanding of what food a child need is skewed by processed, flavoured and flavour enhanced foods.

If the child wants milk, give him milk (unless of course he is lactate intolerant) - if he doesn't want it, don't force it.

Same is supposed for hunger. Don't force the child to "finish its plate", don't let it be hungry. Teach to learn to listen to the hunger and to the well-fed feeling.

Oh well, I had my Hippie 15 minutes. We know how to poison the world.

And while we are at German Core Competencies: Did you hear that Germany wants to patrol along the Gaza-Egypt border? Leave it to the Germans! We know how to run a prison camp.

Sometimes, just sometimes, - and I try to fight that thought - I ask myself, if this world hasn't deserved to go down the drains. I have just finished the book by Parenti about Yugoslavia, and it makes me sick if I read about the bombing of Yugoslavia by NATO, the demonization of the Serbs and the total disintegration of that country - by way of the butcher knife. He works in a part of town which is considered problematic (by local standards). His job is to make sure elementary school pupils get a good education, that they don't get abused by their parents. He even trains teachers how to teach under those condition in this part of town. He talks about his work when he has time and the basic line is: "How can you ask the parents to help with the homework of their children, if the parents can't even manage to have food in the fridge?" It is a loosing battle.

And he realizes it, he has a very solid Marxist view of the world. He knows that you solve nothing if by asking the parents "to do a better job". And he speaks openly about it - even on work. Now Hamburg is ruled since 2001 by the CDU, kind of the German Tories, so you'd think he'd be in massive trouble by now. Yet he is doing fairly well, mainly because he is good in his work and because when he talks about Marxist ideas at work, he does it very solidly, calmly and in a way that makes it difficult to attack him. Its hard to describe.

And when I grew up, my main-teacher from grade 7 to 10 was a proud member of the green-party. He teached me well, I guess, stayed true to his believes. And that was back in Bavaria, which is firmly in the hands of the CSU, the little bit more to the right Bavarian variant of the CDU, and where being a Green was nearly as bad as being a Red...

Now, I don't really know you, but I'd think you'd do okay in this pre-"Paradigm-Shift" age. And as far as I can say, with the chronic understaffed and underfunded school-system in almost every country in the world, your future colleagues and even superiors will welcome anybody who does a solid job, even he is a little bit of the dominant paradigm. Heck, these days, I guess they'd be glad if the new colleague doesn't come to work drunk or can tell which atoms make up Carbon Dioxide.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8225855.post-14158375106289312752009-01-21T19:41:00.000+00:002009-01-21T19:41:00.000+00:00and, is it just me or wasn't the whole 'bird flu b...and, is it just me or wasn't the whole 'bird flu being carried by migrating birds from Asia' thing just a teensy wee bit bollocks?

since when have birds taken to migrating along East/West routes rather than North/South paths?Stefhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01467757421113856218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8225855.post-30083230678245484472009-01-21T19:39:00.000+00:002009-01-21T19:39:00.000+00:00Merck are a repeat offender (most recently, MMR an...Merck are a repeat offender (most recently, MMR and HPV), and Bayer were involved in contaminated blood transfusions if I recall correctly.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
